Zuffa Purchase The IFL, July 31 Marks The End

The fight Network :

According to IFL senior vice president of communications Joe Favorito, the team-based MMA promotion will turn out the lights July 31 as its assets are sold to a yet-to-be-named buyer, confirmed today by several anonymous sources as the UFC ownership group Zuffa LLC….The buyout, which will mirror Zuffa’s takeover and subsequent closure of the now defunct WFA and PRIDE FC organizations in 2007 will see the UFC and WEC’s parent company take control of the rights to current IFL contracts as well as the promotion’s video library.

Rumors of the pending sale of the IFL has be floating around for weeks, but now it seems like July 31 marks the end of the IFL. I guess this means we won’t be seeing the IFL’s latest creation, The IFL Hex.

  1. i liked the ifl they had some good fights, at least maybe we will get to see big country in the ufc and see how good he is or isn't

  2. ifl was gau they should have jsut got a cage ahahaha

  3. they had alot of good fights and where getting better at the end its to bad.

  4. Oswald Gobblecock says:

Ropes are dumb in MMA, too many resets and people having to pull them out of the way. Just use a cage!

  5. Did you see the Affliction show Oswald. Fighters were bailing themselves out by purposely going through the ropes. It wasn't like Pride where the ref would yell at them or throw up a card. The Pride refs were on it. These ref let them do it over and over. Yeah, ropes good for boxing but suck for MMA.

  6. So long IFL. Yet another org out there falls prey to UFC hyenas.

  7. Ropes for MMA suck, UFC is the bomb, and Fedor will destroy Randy!!!
