WEC News: Paulo Filho Rematches Sonnen In March
By CagE | January 31, 2008

According to the Brazilian magazine Tatame, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) welterweight champion Paulo Filho will rematch Chael Sonnen sometime in march. Filho has been involved in two lackluster wins since coming to the WEC, sparking rumors that he was taking steroids while competing in PRIDE.
WEC Champion at 84kg category, Paulão Filho gave Chael Sonnen a revenge, whom defeated at WEC 31, at 2007 December, with an arm-lock. According to Paulão Filho’s boxing coach, Josuel Distak, Sonnen asked for a revenge after the fight. “Last fight I had a lot of weight problems with Paulão, that’s why he wasn’t well. Sonnen asked for a revenge and we accepted. Thanks God this will be Paulão’s last fight at 84 category. After this fight he’ll go up to 93kg category”, said Distak.

Yeah, Sonnen was controlling most of that fight and escaped some tough situations. I really thought he was going to win but then he got to confident and Filho grabbed an arm. I just want a better match. Filho is considered a top MW, then he needs to prove it.

he talking about moving up in weight, sounds crazy to me he is 5′8 and is a short m.w. at l.h.w. he will be to small and there alot of tough guys at that weight i don’t see him doing to well, if he can’t make weight at 185 maybe he is not training hard enough.

I think their last fight was a bad stoppage anyway. Sonnen is going to finish him this time.
