It didnt link to the video but I already heard all he had to say. He also said that black people need to talk white when they are calling the police. The guy got hit in a major artery so thats why it was such a bad wound. If you ask me, the girlfriend should have wrapped up the wound as tight as she could until the ambulance arrived to slow the bleeding a little.

I think its stupid and I hope he was kidding I didnt see the video. To think that just because of race they wont save a life is just dumb. Racism is rampant mainly because people wont leave it alone its always the scapegoat, give it up already.

It’s Rampage, what did you guys expect him to act like? He’s always saying stupid stuff. It doesn’t surprise me a bit. He probably doesn’t even know there’s an artery in the leg and it actually doesn’t take very long to die if it’s severed. I like Rampage as a fighter but he acts like an idiot.

This guy isnt racist at all, he is real. In every story or interview I see him in he always cracks jokes but he treats people with respect. A lot of pro athletes try to be contrivercial or like Muhammad Ali just to get some fame. This dudes personality is genuine and its about time MMA had an entertainer like him.

He does crack jokes, and they’re not always respectful though. There are worse guys out there. Not to argue but I think he IS a little racist, but who isn’t right? Anyway, the guy makes me laugh, but I’m not afraid to say it like it is.

For instance, here’s a direct quote from Rampage.

“Well the weird thing about me is that I grew up fighting and one of my friends introduced me to it (MMA) and I was like, ‘Whoa, you mean I can beat up white dudes and not go to jail?’”

Sure it was a joke. I don’t care what anybody says about anybody. But was it racial? YES it was. He uses “color” quite frequently. I’m not condeming him on that. We all have different backgrounds and experiences. I’m sure he doesn’t intend any harm. Like you said, he’s genuine, he doesn’t hide who he really is. So if he doesn’t have a problem making racial comments, I don’t have a problem pointing them out and calling it like it is.

I like Rampage as a fighter. I think he has a tremendous amount of skill and he’s only getting better. However, I’m not really that entertained by him outside the cage. Each to their own I guess.

I wasn’t able to watch this particular video, so I don’t know if he’s making a joke about the ambulance or what. If he was serious, even if he’s just being “real” he was also being narrow minded. It’s a pretty strong acusation to make if you think about it, even if it was a joke. Just my .02

You got a point Joe. I mean, just read that quote you put on there about him talking about beating up white dudes. If you flip it and have a white guy making the remark about black guys, he is beyond racist. Double standard for sure. Outside of that though, I like Ramp and he is always entertaining to me.

I don’t mean to sound like Rampage hasn’t said anything funny EVER. Like I said before, he’s made me laugh(A time or two.) I don’t want to start a bash or a debate. This is after all an MMA website not a cultural diversity website. :) On a personal level, I’m sure he’s a nice guy with a good personality. My intention was just to keep things in perspective. As far as the big picture goes, I’m more concerned about who he will fight next.

In hindsight, I think it was out of sheer boredom that I posted on this topic in the first place. Since I’m at work(shhhh quiet) I should at least be more productive. :D

Okay, last time ;) Anyway, I figured I’d give some new info if anyone is interested.

I found it and watched it. I also found several articles about what actually happened. Sean Taylor was actually airlifted to the hospital and underwent several hours of emergency surgery after being shot in the femoral artery. Also, it wasn’t Taylor who called 911, it was his girlfriend who if I’m not mistaken is white and probably “sounds white.” Anyway, regardless of whether Rampage was serious or joking, he didn’t have the facts. If it was humor, it was untimely at best. I feel sorry for Taylor’s family, and they probably look down on Rampage for saying such a thing.

I haven’t seen the tape yet. All I know is that the guy is rich so he probably got better treatment than most people. Its a shame though, Taylor was in my opinion one of the hardest hitting backs in football. I hope they find the guy who did it. I’m just suprised Al Sharpton isnt finding a way to put his face in the news somehow for this.

You guys all make good points. If it were up to me, comments containing race references would be edited to minimize their importance and effect. I think that eventually “multi-racial” will be the predominant race anyway.

Whoa whoa whoa…..Slow down with the censoring speech ideas. ;)

Well, that subject is for another forum.
