UFC On FOX 4: Shogun Rua vs. Brandon Vera Main Event Set

The Ultimate Fighting Championships has set a main event for his forth installment of UFC on FOX. Headlining the show will be former light heavyweight champion Mauricio Shogun Rua taking on “The Truth” Brandon Vera on Saturday Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The new main event on August 4 will be a five-round light heavyweight battle between two of the best Muay Thai strikers in the game, Brandon Vera and former champion Shogun Rua. Rua is riding the momentum of the fight of the century against Dan Henderson, while Vera is back in the win column and looking to make a statement after being sidelined earlier this year due to injury himself.

Rua is being plucked from the UFC 149 card in Calgary, where he was set to face Thiago Silva until Silva suffered an injury. Vera, meanwhile, was training for a bout with James Te Huna at the July FUEL TV event. A new opponent for Te Huna is expected to be named shortly.

More rumors on UFC of FOX 4 in our fight card section.

  1. Silva vs. Franklin, Ortiz vs. Griffin and now Rua vs. Vera . The UFC seems to have bunch of lame main events scheduled lately.

  2. technix says:

Yeah they are pretty crappy but it's because so many fighters are getting injured. I'm not really looking forward to any of those three fights.

  3. Vera does not deserve to fight Rua and much less be on the main event. Vera had a lot of potential that was never realized. I still think he could make a run but until and if he gets that run started, he should not be fighting Rua or be on a main event. I understand that injuries happen and they cause changes but this makes no sense.

  4. WHODINI says:

Brandon ( YAWN ) Vera he always looks like he dont wanna be there

  5. ron shaw says:

They only thing that makes a Vera fight exciting to me is when I bet against him.
