UFC News: Frank Mir To Take On Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

By CagE | September 19, 2007

frank mir

According to Tagg Radio, former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir is rumored to be taking on PRIDE legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira possibly later this year. The news comes just a month after Mir’s impressive victory over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74.

Mir’s victory over Hardonk was the first time we have seen a glimpse of the former champion since his motorcycle crash in 2004. He was forced out of fighting for 16 months and his comeback to the cage has been less then stellar, giving up losses to Marcio Cruz and Brandon Vera.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira aka “Big Nog” will be tough competition for Mir, but a win for either of these fighters could land them a title shot in the near future.

The date for the fight is not yet know, but Big Nog was rumored to be fighting in December.

This is a genuine mis match. Big nog by submission fury, 10sec first round!

Mir is good on the ground so I see it as a great matchup. After seeing Big Nog’s last performance vs. Herring…I’m thinking this is the perfect fight for Mir to get into the picture again.
