UFC News: Diego Sanchez Out, Koscheck Steps Up To Face Thiago Alves at UFC 90
By CagE | October 14, 2008
The Ultimate Fighter 1 veteran Diego Sanchez (19-2-0) has withdrawn from his highly anticipated welterweight showdown with Thiago “Pitbull” Alvez (15-3-0) at UFC 90, according to Sherdog.
Sanchez suffered a rib injury while training for his Oct. 25 bout. Stepping up to face Thiago Alves is Sanchez’s foe and fellow TUF 1 cast member Josh Koscheck (11-2-0).
Koscheck will look to extend a two fight winning streak since losing to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 74 “Respect”
UFC 90 “Silva vs. Cote”, Oct. 25 from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.

i thought that was going to be a great fight to bad, i don’t care for kos but props to him for stepping up to take the fight, i think he is a stronger wrestler than diego so he will probally beat alves.

I bet Sanchez flipped is lid when he found out who was replacing him.
Kos has been haunting him ever since he lost to him.

yeah if kos wins than he will be climbing up the ladder for a shot at the title instead of diego.

no no no no

but i do think Kos will get the win pretty easy because fitch beat him down and Alves has bad wrestling and Kos is the best in the weight other then GSP

Kos is a good replacement but this sucks. I was really looking foward to watching Diego and Alves.

I think Sanchez and Kos are friendly now. Remember that video of the three of them on the way to the reunion? Anywwo, yeah, now this fight just got a lot harder for Alves. It’s gonna go straight to the ground. Koscheck’s ground game has gotten much better, but I don’t think it is good enough to stand with Alves. I don’t like Kos that much, but I think he will fight the smart fight.
