UFC News : Diego Sanchez Almost Forced To Retire
By CagE | May 24, 2007
According to Dana White, Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez almost retired just before UFC 69. A mysterious illness had Sanchez thinking he had Hepatitis C. After the KOS fight Diego developed a coffee cup size hole in his leg, it turned out he developed a staph infection and he does no have Hepatitis C. We will have to see how Diego overcomes his injury and loss.
Diego was going to retire at the weigh-ins that day because a test came up that he had hepatitis C,” White said in a conference call Thursday. The doctors eventually concluded he did not have hepatitis but were unable to determine what the problem was. So Sanchez, after a pre-fight shoving match with his rival, fought as planned.
