UFC Lands A Major Two Year TV Deal In Japan

Las Vegas, NV (USA) — Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) brand today announced that UFC will return to television in Japan with a new two-year deal with WOWOW.

WOWOW will telecast all UFC pay-per-view events starting with UFC 89: BISPING vs. LEBEN taking place live from National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, UK. The UFC 89 live card will begin at 8pm GMT in England and will telecast on WOWOW following a short delay at 12 Midnight JST.

“The Japanese market has always been important to the UFC, and we want to bring MMA and all of its biggest stars back to Japan,” said Dana White, UFC President. “We are thrilled to be back with WOWOW.”

WOWOW broadcast UFC events from 2001-2007. The renewed deal will put the UFC PPV back in the Japanese market.

    Being smarter then the rest usually help the rich get richer.. UFC being brodcast in japan might also bring more fighters from japan in to UFC. thats a plus for everyone.. fans and UFC alike.

    yes this is a plus I wonder why the ufc couldnt land a deal with cbs like elite did.It could be because CBS did not feel as though the ufc had a circus card like Elite, being serious though even if you are not an mma fan you still have prolly heard of UFC. It seems as though at least Fox would take a chance on UFC they take chances on much worse things. The UFC would fit well on a FOX saturday night.
