UFC Clothing Ban Continues With CageFighter

MMaPayout:

MMAPayout.com has learned through multiple sources that CageFighter and other MMA Authentics brands have been banned from the Octagon and any UFC event.

The dispute is rumored to have arisen from a conflict over shelf space in Wal-mart stores. Sources told MMAPayout.com that CageFighter/MMA Authentics beat out the UFC for the valuable real estate in the nation’s top retailer. As a result Zuffa pulled the plug on MMA Authentics’ access to the Octagon in retaliation.

The UFC is able to take such measures by exercising Article 22.1 of the Zuffa Standard Contract, which states that “Fighter covenants and agrees that no wording, symbols, pictures, designs, names or other advertising or informational material… ii. of any sponsor in conflict or competition with Zuffa or any of Zuffa’s sponsors.”

CageFighter and MMA Authentics has a impressive list of fighters who will be adversely affected by the ban. BJ Penn, Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffin, Marcus Davis, Brandon Vera, Urijah Faber, Sam Stout, Roger Huerta, and Chuck Liddell all have signature shirts available for purchase through one or more of the MMA Authentics brands.

It looks like the UFC is at it again banning another one of the largest MMA tee shirt companies from entering cage.

With Affliction, the UFC said it was because the company was now a competing MMA promotion. I’ll give them that one, but banning a fighter from getting paid because you don’t sell enough tee shirts at Wall-mart is ridicules.

  1. When is this shit gonna stop, you dont pay most of these guys dick and now you quite literally take more money right out of their pocket, I hope a fertita gets hit by a car. A really big on fire car full of liquid shit.

  2. Its stupid but a good business move, they shouldn't just read the contract before signing they should disect the damm thing so they don't run into this crap because that's what it is crap! Liquid shit now that's funny.

  3. Ok, I think it can be argued whether it is a good business move or not. If fighters can't enter the cage with their sponsors mechandise, they could lose those sponsorships, along with the money they make from it. Would it be worth it for these fighters to switch organizations so they can get the bigger sponsors? I could be wrong, thats just the first thing I thought of. The whole thing is kind of childish though.

  4. It is beyond a business move hate this or not reasons like these are why UFC is UFC and Elite is Elite. UFC stood up to its standards they dont want anyone pushing them around they want everyone to know that their are consequences to things like this. They take the risk of pissing people off just to make sure they protect their product, its a standard practice. IF they did not do things like this than people would try and take it further and see what they could get away with. You dont see anyone wearing affliction gear anymore and GSP had affliction shorts in his third fight against Hughes. Im not saying i agree with it cause i dont, but i understand. The next time a UFC fighter wants to sign with a clothing group they are going to do a little more homework and read the contract they signed. still tho im sure cagefighter will find away around this with its fighters and they will get them to show off their stuff in another way.

  5. this would be like the nfl banning nike or addidas.

  6. The NFL does do things like this on the sidelines you are only allowed to wear authentic NFL team gear. the players wouldn't be allowed to wear an underarmor jacket on the sidelines. Bill Belicheck got in trouble in 05 and fined for wearing a non NFL brand pats sweatshirt. that is also why the NFL was fighting for awhile for the coaches to not wear suits on the sidelines.

  7. I understand but its kinda stupid…

  8. UFC is over-rated they had to build their fighters because they didn't really have good fighters. Most of the good fighters where fighting in Pride before ufc bought it. Now that they are big they are fucking with all the little companies because they can, They tried fucking over Affliction and now they are a mma fight promoter. I want to see ufc and gay ass fat dana retard white pull that with Tapout, i wish that Tapout would grow a par and start promoting there own fights. AFFLICTION, TRUMP rock
