UFC 93 To Be Held in Dublin, Ireland On Jan. 17

According to Yahoo Sports UK, The UFC is set to announce UFC 93 on Jan. 17th from the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The event is rumored to be headlined by Rich Franklin taking on Chuck Liddell or Mauricio “Shogun Rua in the main event.

Also rumored is the long awaited welterweight fight between Matt Hughes and Matt Serra.

The UFC Welterweight title bout between Georges St. Pierre and BJ Penn set for Super Bowl weekend on Jan 31 will be renamed UFC 94.

The 10,000 seat newly renovated O2 Arena is expected to officially open its doors on December 21. This is the first event in the UFC’s worldwide expansion expected in 2009, which could include fights in Ireland, Australia, Philippines and Germany.

  1. I hope it's Rich vs. Chuck in that fight. We finally get to see the bad blood match of Hughes and Serra…I can't wait for that one.

  2. i want it to be rich vs chuck as well, i think shogun would beat him but he also can't afford to lose in his first fight back so i hope he gets 1 warm up fight in, and i want the hughes vs serra feud finally settled.

  3. Yeah, Franklin Vs Liddell could be pretty good. I really want to see Serra beat Hughes, I just don't know who I would go with there.

  4. This would be cool. I have been wanting to see Franklin and Chuck slug it out. I'm sure chuck will be the favorite but they will both fight hard to try and rebound their legacy. I think Sera wins against hughes. Sera seems to be a little bit more well rounded.
