UFC 88: Thiago Tavares vs Kurt Pellegrino

By CagE | July 24, 2008

Top lightweights Thiago Tavares and Kurt Pellegrino are set to face off at UFC 88 “Breakthrough” on September 6th from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga.

The two top contenders were on a strait arrow to the top of the UFC lightweight division before suffering hard loses in recent fights.

Kurt Pellegrino (15-4) suffered a hard submission loss to Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 13. Pellegrino was winning the fight, until Nate Diaz caught him in a tight triangle choke, while flipping off the overhead camera making it an instant highlight clip.

Tavares (13-2) was on the receiving end of “Knockout of the Night” by Matt Whiman at UFC 85 “Bedlam” in June, which set him back in the completely stacked 155-pound division.

The fight is slated to headline the undercard at UFC 88, Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans.

I agree. I don’t like him much cuz I think he’s kind of a queer, but he is a damn good fighter.
