I haven't watched too much of Palhares. But I can see why Dan was so focused to not get taken down. Palhares has really advanced jitz and when he singles out a leg he wraps it up like a snake. I really liked that fight. It was great striker vs. great ground guy. Dan Henderson really impressed me with his escapes.

Jordan - The problem with Palhares' first UFC match is that is was against a 12-7 fighter (Ivan Salaverry). Not exactly a tough guy.

Also consider that Salaverry was considering retiring prior to this fight and did officially retire after this loss. You have to wonder how well he even trained for Palhares considering his mindset.

Before that fight, Palhares did have a decent record, but who did he fight? No one that I ever heard of.

Dan is no chump. We'll see...

Upset of the night will go to Hamill, if anyone.

I don't think that part was fixed. I'm talking about certain refs being paid off.

haha yeah. but maybe the kimbo/thompson fight was fixed. before the fight they injected thompsons ear with fluid so at the right time kimbo could pop it. lol.

lol...I love conspiracy theorists!

You'd have an easier time convincing us that the Kimbo/Thompson fight was fixed.

The Karo Parisyan fight was cancelled 'cause he hurt his back or something. And guys!!!! The main event fights are fixed to maximize the publicity of their fighters and increasing gates at future fights. I mean Forrest beating Rampage?!?!

Classic: Iceman fighting that black dude a few years ago. He looks at clock... then throws some lame ass punch that barely hits the guy... then the guy falls down like he was in a Shakespeare play.

Rediculously fixed.

Yeah Palhares is a Brazilian Top Team fighter and those guys usually have a great ground game.

Morey, I went back and watched Palhares first UFC match and tried to find some old articles about him. His ground game really is slick and I think you may be right in saying this fight will be a difficult one. This could be an upset pick right here, which I hope isn't the case.

Chuck
Franklin
Henderson
Marquardt

I agree with Jordan that the Liddell fight might end up going to a decision. I don't think Hamill has enough experience to beat Franklin. I think Henderson is going to have a much harder time with Palhares and I don't think it will be a first round win.
