UFC 88: Nate Marquardt vs. Martin Kampmann Likely

By CagE | August 1, 2008

According to MMAJunkie, Nate Marquardt will likely take on Martin Kampmann at UFC 88 slated for Sept. 6 from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

Marquardt (26-8-2) is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Brazilian Thales Leites at UFC 85. This Team Jackson trained fighter will be looking to rebound from his loss by taking on the “Hitman” Martin Kampmann.

Kampmann (16-2) is on a 9 fight winning streak, defeating Jorge Rivera in the first round by Guillotine Choke Submission at UFC 85. His winning streak would likely be 16, but he suffered a TKO loss due to a cut at the MFC middleweight GP back in 2004.

This fight will likely put the winner in title contention and a chance at the pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Anderson “Spider” Silva.

I think Marquardt will win this fight. After his last performance, he needs this win.
