i thought it was quick call and the round was alomst over, nothin he can do but move on i agree with him on moving to lhw theres a long line there where at h.w. its alot more open and with one win you can get a title shot look at mir.

I can see the early stop here yes and no.
Yes he wasn’t defending or to me even trying to get out of the mount he just accepted it and waited for the ref to step in to save him.
No also because he didn’t appear to be in too much trouble maybe let it go a few more seconds but its close.
But I think the ref made a good call.
Vera was saying he practiced bad postions all the time but its didn’t seem like he was trying to escape the bad spot or even fight back he just covered up.

Worst Ref in the business at this time.

did you watch the video he said that he was not trying to get out of the mount just cover up till the round ended and was talking to the ref telling him he was o.k. it could have been called either way but when the ref said the same thing about kimbo that he did not stop it because kimbo kept saying he was alright for over a minute and this one is stopped with 20 seconds or less to go in the round the ref is not consistant.

Referee did a perfect job … Vera should acctually be thankfull . I guy as big as fabriico would hurt him on the next and last 20 seconds. I feel bad for Vera but the referee did a perfect job

The ref did a shitty job, Vera reacted right when it was stopped. He wasn’t dazed or anything! Wasn’t this the same ref who let Kimbo get his ass beat for 2 minutes?

i dont see the fight im going to watch iit but brandon said he won the first round but he lost in the first round so he a little off ha
June 9th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
thats what i am saying oswald if it where a different ref it would still be a little controversy but this guy let kimbo get beat on for almost 2 minutes and his reasoning was that kimbo said he is fine and thats what vera did and it was only 20 seconds to go.

they shouldnt have stopped the fight and vera did look good..
June 9th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
How good can look while mounted really?
What I saw was Vera not fighting back. Not one attempt to buck Werdum out of his dominate spot.
Ok the ref did the kimbo job/fix. That was some ruff stuff but that was the EliteXC circus not a UFC show.

even joe is saying they stopped the fight early wow thats fucked up
June 9th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
it was a quick and bad stopage imo but if it went another 20 seconds of him being pounded on in full mount i would have to call it. i think he should have let it got atleast a few more strikes but thats why u dont let a mast of bjj get u into full mount.
June 9th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I think Vera didn’t get much if any damage when he had his face fully covered. Then he decided to put one arm up, possibly trying to bait an arm bar by Wierdum where he could slip out and pull a better position. I think it could have been finished if Wierdum would have just kept pounding away. But at the point where it was stopped…no…that was early.

he was getting his ass whooped … take that whooping and move on
June 10th, 2008 at 11:05 am
the ref should of told vera he is going to stop the fight if he did’nt show something other than covering up. Vera should gave the thumb’s up like kimbo did.lol kimbo took a 2min mount and the same ref.what’s up with that????

i agree scooby, the h.w’s are thin right now and i am not interested in seeing nog fight people he has already beat. nog has had a great career and probally only has a couple yrs left at best i would want him to face new fighters and top h.w’s that are not in the ufc now.
