By CagE | March 10, 2008

Sherdog is reporting that Ryo Chonan will take on Roan Carneiro at UFC 85 on June 7 from the O2 Arena, London England.

The two fighters locked horns previously in 2005 DEEP show in Japan. Chonan came out the victor after cutting Carneiro with a knee as the Brazilian shot for a takedown in the third round.

Both fighters have since dropped down to welterweight.

I like this math up. I was a little dissapointed when shogun pulled out 2 days after i got my ticket but the card looks to be coming together nicely. I’d say chonan for the win if he commits more than he did against karo parisyan.

If you saw the first fight, Chonan dominated from start to finish and opened up a cut that eventually got him the victory. This fight should be no different. Chonan’s Jiu Jitsu is incredibly underrated as he has only been submitted once and that was by world renown blackbelt Paulo Filho. On the other hand, Jucao just got tapped out by a blue belt Kevin Burns in his last fight and by Fitch two fights prior. Jucao is 12-7 but his most credible wins are over Clementi and DeSouza, while he has lost against sub par fighters like Burns, Nascimento whereas Chonan’s losses are against top level guys like Hendo, Filho, Karo, Almeida. Chonan is a slight favorite, but the line is almost even…I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago and put 800 on Chonan…I am 19-4 in betting UFC fights and this is one of my easier selections.
