While I like Mir, I do not believe he is a "great fighter". I feel as if all other aspects of his game besides ground/ guard are lacking just enough skill to make him a pretty good fighter, but not a great one. I also believe that some luck, not much, but some played a part in his win. Brock looked very impressive to me, engaging early to try and avoid the fatal mistake that he obviously made to lose the fight. He did a textbook move from the ground, he went for the knee bar, Brock pulled just enough to get his knee free but then Mir went for the ankle lock. That was a great finish by Mir. If brock used more elbows it may have been a different out come.even mir got the win,but maybe another two fights then maybe a shot at the belt. if he fights kongo the same out come he is just going to go for a leg boring. Werdum does NOT deserve a title shot right now! This is a very even fight and I honestly can't pick a winner. I really like the matchup and it should be a solid fight. Eventhough Frank Mir may not deserve a shot at Nog right now, It just might be the right move for the UFC. Mir's win over Brock may not have been a huge win, but the fight was so hyped that Mir winning gave him a huge following of fans. It was alot of publicity for Mir and considering ppv buys ect. I think Mir would be the guy to give a title shot against Nog, because their both great submission fighters and it would be a pretty good fight. I like to see fighters that fight to finish. I think Vera can be that, he got a bad break in the Silvia fight by breaking his hand. I've never broken a hand but I've had ligament damage on my fingers and even that hurts to punch with. No excuse during a fight though when you have adrenaline going, you just have to push through and I didn't think Vera did that. Wierdum just seemed like a guy out there fighting to win in my opinion.
