This fight has been moved to June 7th. Liddell confirmed it with another MMA website…Looks like a pretty good card, i hope Lesnar gets a win. As for Shogun Vs. Liddell, I think that chuck obviously as the advantage standing up but that Rua is the overall better/ more well rounded fighter so I think he wins the fight if he stays weary of Chucks right hand
February 19th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
i think liddel will win cause hes bald
February 19th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
True Chuck Liddell is bald, I don’t think Shogun will be able to overcome that in this fight.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
cant wait for this im going for sure! i think shogun will win a hard fight possibly by decision.
February 20th, 2008 at 3:34 am
The o2 arena is already booked for some other event 7th june.
February 20th, 2008 at 3:47 am
Since when has Liddell been bald? I’m not going to make a prediction on that one.
February 21st, 2008 at 10:26 am
i just checked and the o2 arena is not booked on that date. there is a gig at the indigo2 another arena in the complex.
February 21st, 2008 at 11:25 am
thats gonna be a good event
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:43 am
I hate Chuck. He reckoned he should get Rampage after only one win!! Cocky fat man he is. Bald he is not. Past it he is. Retire he should. Cheer Shogun I will. Throw beer bottle at Chuck I shall.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:12 pm
chuck is a ladies man. in his new book, which i just finihed reading, he pretty much tells all — from willa ford to girls he was banging after the fight. ihatechuck (above) is a man’s man.
February 23rd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
ihatechuck..u talk like yoda which is…cool i guess. I do not hate Chuck, in fact I like him a lot. But I like Shogun more, why, because he is the better fighter and it will be proved in this fight
February 24th, 2008 at 5:57 am
Nice to see Marcus Davis on this card, he really impressed me in newcastle at UFC 80 and loves to fight in the UK : )
Lesnar will be spoonfed a nobody so he gets a win, pethetic!
February 26th, 2008 at 8:07 am
[...] Comments kendu - Never underestimate ‘The Silent Assassin’ from Strong Island, NY….anonymous123 - sean sherk is 31-2 and bj is 12-4 how can u say there is class in…Mike - I hope Dan fairs [...]
February 27th, 2008 at 12:08 am
it is definately on the 7th been confirmed by the ufc, i will see u all there, hopefully i’ll b in one of the front rows as i was at ufc 70!!
February 29th, 2008 at 7:51 am
iceman wins by ko and lesnar should get a win rumor has it hes gonna scrap justin mcully who the hell is that no big name like mir anyways whats up wit da ufc raising da ppv price 5.00 might not sound like much but i was struggling wit 40 bucks thats just greed they should cut the price down to 25 bucks a ufc and have 2 ufc a month on ppv
March 2nd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Good point Kaleo, FUCK CAPITALISM!!! But no Brock is fighting Marc Coleman (what a joke) and i diasagree with your prediction on Lidell/ Shogun. I love Iceman, I’m a big fan…But my boy Rua (if he stays away from the nuclear warhead that is Chuck’s right hand) then he is clearly the more well rounded fighter and will take this fight by submission or split decision
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
They are gonna have to find a fight to replace the Lesnar fight because he is fighting Mark Coleman on augest 7th…I would love to see Diego fight a real opponent like Fitch again or Hughes
March 4th, 2008 at 8:40 am
[...] UFC 85: Martin Kampmann vs. Jorge Rivera [...]
March 6th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
lidell will beat shogun just like griffin did and the iceman is on his way back after beating silva and that jardine fight could have gone either way
March 6th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
i really hope chuck wins es da man es had a few problems and stuff losing 2 jardine nd rampage but es bk on track the old chucks back now watch him climb back up the ranks i hope e does i want chuck 2 win and btw e aint fighting shogun es pulled out due 2 a knee injurie
March 6th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
i think chuck should fight thiago silva and if chuck beats him i think e should get a shot at rampage again
March 6th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
If Chuck beats Rashad he should get a title shot, although Evans isn’t as good a fighter as Lidell and I believe will get beaten it would be two very big wins for Chuck.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
i agree that evans isn’t as good a striker but i’m not going to say he isn’t a good fighter. this is a very beatable matchup for chuck but i’m going to count rashad out because he always seems to find a way to end up on top. if chuck beats rashad then yeah, title shot after that in my opinion.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
if it where shogun and chuck won than with out a dout he deserves a title shot(i think he would have lost) this one not as big but i guess so but there is other guys waiting for there turn if jardine wins(i dout) thats back to back wins over the 2 best lhw in the last 5 years and chuck had 2 loses in a row.i don’t know who ever i guess there alot of good lhw’s right now.i think chuck wins this one but i agree with kom34 i would not totaly count out rashad.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Good point guys, i never meant that Rashad wasnt a good fighter, he is extremely capable. But i do believe this is his first exposure to the “upper level” fighters. I agrere that shogun would have won and that Wandi wins but I think Liddell gets the title shot if he wins and if Jardine wins as well his is the number 2 contender after Chuck
March 11th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
rashad is capable but i doubt it lidell is definatly at a different level right now than evans is if infact lidell does win i do think he should get a title shot but it would probably be after the rampage forrest fight and i know rampage is a heavy favorite but you never know with forrest i counted him out against shogun im just saying if forest and lidell both win i would rather see that fight than another rampage and lidell
March 12th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
First things first, RASHAD EVANS may be the most overated MMA fighter in the world, WILL GET WORKED BY LIDDELL. Should have lost to an over the hill gonna go somewhere else cuz I cant beat the big guns Tito Ortiz and by all rights didnt beat Micheal “the second most overated mma fighter in the world” Bisping who pretty much survived against Mark Hamil who is at best an average LT HVY. Rashad has no chance this fight wont go two rounds.
March 12th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
STEVEO - Rashad has never lost and fought some tough guys and has destroyed much bigger guys than himself. He’s 5′9 and out striked brad imes who is about 6′9, took down the stocky jason lambert, used a good sprawl against tito and everyone knows how strong he is and eventually took tito down and held him down. He has all the skills to beat chuck i just dont think he will.
Oh by the way its MATT Hamill
March 12th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
I don’t think Rashad wins just because Liddell has such lengthy arms. I think it will be like Wandi where Chuck just keeps him at bay and strikes when theres an opportunity.
March 13th, 2008 at 6:17 am
Luke, first of I didnt realize you were the spelling police, and secondly there are plenty of guys who can beat alot of good fighters and can’t beat the great ones (see tito ortiz, Rich Franklin) Being a good fighter is great but if your aren’t the best in your class unless you land a bomb and get lucky your not going to win. I dont see how wins over two guys that will NEVER see a title shot like lambert and Imes (when is the last time that jobber got in the octagon) legitimize a fighter to get in the ring and make him a favorite over a legend. Liddell has lost a step but I still think hes got plenty to put Rashad on his rear and lets remember its only a 3 round fight so Liddells sometimes questionable conditioning really wont come into play. HE ALMOST LOST TO MICHEAL BISPING, I guess he just has to show me something other than killer wins over lambert and imes.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:46 am
RASHAD EVANS HAS A CHANCE TO BEAT ICEMAN !! EVANS FOUGHT SOME BIG HEAVYWEIGHTS AND WAS THE UNDERDOG FOR MOST OF EM AND WON ALL OF EM HES EVEN BEAT KIETH JARDINE WHO AS WE KNOW BEAT THE ICE MAN!! HONESTLY THOUGH AFTER SAYIN ALL THAT I THINK ICEMAN WINS SECOND ROUND KNOCKOUT
March 13th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Hawaii…What?I think Evans is a good fighter, with a great wrestling background but he needs to become more well rounded. Right now he can’t match up aginas Lidell but if he had about a year or two more uinder his belt it would be a better fight.Chcuk wins by KO at the end of the first round
March 13th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
It does not matter if he beats someone bigger than him, just like brandon says, hes a good fighter, hes not great still needs some time to polish up his game a bit. I stand by Bisping gave him all he wanted and thats not a good sign when your getting in the ring with Liddell who would end Bisping very quickly.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THE LOOK ON CHUCKS FACE WHEN THEY TOLD HIM HE WAS FIGHTING EVANS INSTEAD OF SHOGUN WHAT A SIGH OF RELIEF EVANS IS A GOOD FIGHTER A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN THE AVERAGE ONE BUT IS NO WHERE NEAR THE LEVEL OF LIDELL CHUCK WINS BY KO LATE FIRST EARLY SECOND
March 13th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I never said or thought Rashad could win this fight, I just dont think he’s getting the respect he deserves. Rashad Evans has always been considered an underdog on his size alone and when he beats these much bigger guys he has proven that he is up for the challenge. As far as bringing up the Bisping fight, I personally thought that was a great fight with both fighters bringing it. Evans has never shown any signs that he’s not a formidable opponent for any top level light heavyweights he just hasn’t had the chance yet, This is his chance to prove it and i think it will be a good fight.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
All I am saying, great he beat some big guys, IT DOESNT MATTER HES NOT A HVY WHT ANYMORE, now he has to fight guys that can knock him out and move around and I just dont think hes got it in him. He has not shown me a damn thing to make me think he can hang with the big dogs in LT HVY, Tito has lost a step or maybe two and without a penalty point taken away evans loses, tito WAS a top flight fighter, he isnt anymore, and what the hell happened to that rematch, if we would have came out and fought tito again and beat him I would give it to him that he can get in the ring with chuck but chuck beat tito in fairly easy fashion the last time they faught, to me, doesnt bode well for Evans.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
And for the record if Liddell gets beat I will be the first one to get on here and say that i was wrong oh so wrong, but we will wait and see.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Also fights I want to see in the next year.
GSP vs. Fitch
Huerta vs. Sherk or Penn
Andersen Silva vs. LT HVY CHAMP assuming rampage at this point
Jeff Monson vs. Randy Couture
Fedor vs. andyone who will beat him
Lesner vs. Anyone (hes a big SOB)
Houston Alexander vs. Wanderlei Silva
Thiago Silva vs. Lyoto Machiada
Kinbo Slice vs. someone who isnt terrified of him
March 13th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
STEVEO, I like a lot of ur matchups, they could all be great fights. But i dont like Anderson moving up to lhw becauce he is too small (i know there is basicall no one else in the middle weight division) but i dont think he could be dominant at the heavy a wegiht. He walks around at about 205-210 while rampage and others walk around at 230-240. And I truly don’t believe Lesnar is a SOB, he showed great wrestling skills as he was able to take Mir down easily and then spin/ pass through the famous guard of Mir while beating the shit out of him for 85 seconds. Houstan Alexander is a beast, but not a good MMA fighter, thiago silva exposed him. And i though the Kimbo Vs. someone who isnt terrfied him is not only hilarious but true
March 13th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
And I thinkg GSP would beat Fitch, but it would be a great fight. But i dont thiknk fitch looked to sharp in his last fight against Wilson, he was backing staight up when they were standing and could have caused a lot more damage when they he was in guard/ on top
March 13th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Fitch looked like a wrestler in his last fight. He wasn’t throwing leather and looking to finish on the ground. I think GSP would destroy him if he doesn’t evolve because at fight with GSP probably won’t go to the judges.
March 13th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
I’m not saying he should have been throwing leather, but whenur standing the worst thing u can do is back staight up, u have to back up side to side, thats like one of the first things they teach in boxing training. And on the ground i think he did enough to obviously get the desicion but he definitly should look to finish a fight when he is in a good situation, even if he was being weary he was struggling getting shots in their.
March 13th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I don’t mind this matchup at all because I think Rashad has some good striking instincts and can take a punch. If Greg Jackson can come up with a good gameplan to take Chuck out of his comfort zone it could be a great fight. Other than that I have to say I see Chuck winning this fight.
March 13th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
i agree about fitch, i don’t think he is on that gsp level he is a great fighter but not like a silva gsp bj level.
March 14th, 2008 at 5:48 am
Brandon I dont know what You think i said about Lesnar with the SOB thing but I think you may have mis read. I think hes an animal and I want to see him in the ring more and more because the guy is a physical freak, stick kimbos ass in the ring with that beast, lets see how tough he is when he isnt the only mutant in the ring. Sorry just not sold on this guy, slice, to me hes just a bigger houston, fun as hell to watch, if either fight im getting it, but still need alot of work to get to be a legit fighter.
March 14th, 2008 at 5:49 am
One last match i just thought of would be great Bonner vs. Alexander, UFC 88: SLUGFEST
March 14th, 2008 at 6:10 am
I like your choice of fights steveo. I would like to see fedor fight a well rounded opponent, someone who can handle his ground and pound. Fedors last 2 fights were against a much smaller Matt Lindland and that korean giant with no ground game at all. I would love to see Fedor fight Nogueira again i think that it would be an amazing fight.
March 14th, 2008 at 6:56 am
Well Mino woul dbe a good fight, but it history repeats itself it would be the 4th or 5th time, cant remember off teh top of my head, that Fedor has beaten him. However that was pride, different ring, different rules, hey anything can happen, I am not totally sold on noguiero or any heavy weight for that matter I mean couture hasnt fought in a year, if you havent noticed from other posts I despise Sylvia(BORING), and arlovski is probably leaving the organization. So the three heavyweight champs for like the last five years, two of them are basically done in th ufc and if slyvia gets spoon fed another title shot it will be an embarrassment. Herring is a brawler and fun to watch, he needs to hit the gym if he expects to get in the ring and be a champion and stay a champion, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO CRO COP. Oh thats right he stopped juicing after he left pride, just a theory look at his size during pride and now and hes not even close to the same size. My personal fave in the heavys if the snowman baby, jeff Monson, I would like to see him get back into the octagon. I believe someone else earlier talked about rampage weighing in at 230 or 240 before weigh ins and maybe I would like to see him move up since the LHY division is so jacked up with talent its unbelievable. SAVE THE HEAVYWEIGHTS!!!
March 19th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Here it is. Like it is.
Evans in 3:30 1st Round (TKO Strikes). Chuck has a nasty habit of underestimating. Evans has alot to prove, espicially in the big leagues. Evans Shocks the world.
Werdum in 2:32 2nd round (Submission). Fabricio Werdum has stood his ground against Arlovski and Beat down Gonzaga. Werdum proves this fight is that he is a contender.
Chonan, Decesion. Probably a good fight but will not seem like one due to the quality of the other fights.
Thavares, in 4:00 3rd Round (Ponte De Leon). Thavares and Wiman is the best fight on this card. To very good light weights are gonna go at it. Its gonna be a war. Thavares has great Jui-Jitsu and Muay Thai, Wiman isnt ready, but brings it. (FIGHT OF THE NIGHT)
Davis wins regardless. Nobody is gonna stop Marcus Davis right now. He is in a pivotal point of a long career, a great fighters last good run. #10 in the world wins in 1 by TKO. Davis finishes fights and is a force to be reckoned with in the UFC until he gains the title, defend until beaten and retires.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Leites in 2:00, 1st Round (TKO). Leites beats him down. Straight up. Thales Leites is NO JOKE.
Davis :53 1st Round (Knock out), Davis is Serious, Swick is gonna get beat down by Davis’ huge left, with Davis proving why he is the #10 Mixed Martial Artist in the world.
Taylor, in 3:43 3rd Round (K.O. Head Kick). Liaudin gets kicked in the head. Good Fight.
Lambert, Unanimous Decesion. Because other guys sucks worse than him.
PREDECTION CHANGE:
Fight Of The Night, Thiago Tavares vs. Matt Wiman, Winner: Thiago Tavares in 1:31 3rd Round (TKO, Flying Knee followed by punches) With Tavares Now Training with Anderson Silva and Nogeria, A proven winning pedigree, No One Stops Tavares.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Again So Its Not Split up.
Rashad Evans beats Chuck Liddell in 1. (TKO)
Fabricio Werdum beats Brandon Vera in 3. (SUB OTHER)
Thales Leites beats Nate Marquardt in 2. (CHOKE)
Marcus Davis beats Mike Swick in :53 seconds. (KO)
Martin Kampmann beats Jorge Rivera in a decesion.
Thiago Tavares beats Matt Wiman in 3. (TKO)
Roan Carneiro loses to Ryo Chonan to a decesion.
Jess Liaudin loses to Paul Taylor in 3. (KO)
March 19th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
if rashad beats chuck i would think it would come from a decision because both of those guys have hard ass heads.
i think vera will beat wierdum, and i have marquardt over leites because i think his stand up is better and he will work at avoiding bad situations on the ground.
March 20th, 2008 at 10:12 am
i cant wait to see evans get his ass kicked been waiting for it for a long time maybe this will be my chance yup cant wait to see ol evans get knocked the fuck out..kick his ass chuck and put him where he really belongs down with the bottom feeders
March 20th, 2008 at 11:49 am
If Rashad is going to get an ass whooping, Chuck is definitely the guy to do it. I’m looking foward to see what Rashad is really made of in this fight. I think Chuck will definitely test his chin and his heart.
March 23rd, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I really want to see Vera Werdum basically because the HVY WHT div. needs an adrenaline shot in the heart bad. Vera has shown me that he can fight, losing to the Slothiac on the other hand shows me he still needs work. Have missed Werdums last few fights so I want to see if this guy has it or not. Both these fighters could be mainstays in the division for years to come hope its a good fight.
March 25th, 2008 at 9:34 am
It’s truely hard to say who is going to win this fight…in my opinion it is who has the better cardio and can throw those heavy hands at their opponent longer…”sugar” has shown that he can step up his game and compete with big names but “iceman” has a list of HUGE names he beaten….it’s going to make for a very interesting fight and i personally think it’s going to be the fight of the night
March 25th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Good point Erik. I remember everyone wrote off Jardine against Chuck before they fought. Truthfully I haven’t really seen Rashad really rocked by a punch so I’m anxious to see if Chucks heavy hands can put Rashad away or not. I would also expect part of the Rashad gameplan to try to get a takedown and work some ground and pound.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
But at the Same time Kash, have you ever seen him rock someone with a punch, I maintain this guy is at best a second tier fighter til he shows me something
March 25th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
everyone thinks this is going to be stand up…….and it may be but rashads plan is for the takedown….and down forget chucks wrestling is sick!!!!!! did u see wen he took down wanderlei….lets be serious rashad has a very heavy load on him right now and i dont thinkhe can lift it….but if shogun fought him shogun would *%^&* him up
March 26th, 2008 at 8:32 am
If any body forgot RASHAAD beat JARDINE who wooped on CHUCK. He also has a good chin. If CHUCK knocks out RASHAAD which he can I am not saying he will. RASHAAD’s best chance is not taking CHUCK down because that is nearly impossible. It is holding him in the clinch against the fence and doing his work from there. If this fight goes to distance its RASHAAD stops early its CHUCK thi one is all toss up
March 26th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Chuck Liddel is trained in two diffrent forms of karate, a collegiate wrestler, and he has his purple belt in BJJ which not a lot of people know about
Rashad Evans is a collegiate wrestler that was trained under Dan “the beast” Severn….he is faster than chuck for sure and can use his kicks better than chuck
All i can say is if you dont watch this PPV then your stupid
March 26th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
i don’t know about rashad kicking better than chuck, chuck has got some great kicks but does not use them because of trying to avoid the take downs and he is a good wrestler but he uses it to stand up because he feels he can knock out anyone with his hands.i think rashad is good and is well rounded good chin good strikes good wrestleing but chuck is longer has better striking more power maybe not a better wrestler but has fought better wrestlers than rashad and they could not get him down or keep him down so i see chuck winning this one, i do agree with achilles that the clinch is rashads best chance.
March 26th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
you know I agree I like rashad evans but I agree chuck liddel is the better striker but not better on the ground if they stay up I see chuck winning the fight on the ground more of a close fight but will go to chuck unless evans proves that he won. And as for you guys talking bad on rampage do you not member that was not the first time liddel lost to rampage he lost to him in pride also so he has gotten his ass wopped twice by rampage and when you lose twice and then get knocked out once you are a totally diffent figther then when fighting someone else and name me one person who has lost twice and been knocked out and came back to win specially at this weight class and level of competion and people say that rampage has been knocked out before everybody loses in mma that is just the way it goes. STYLES MAKE FIGHTS!
March 26th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
good point jeremy… rampage did kick chucks ass twice…twice he said…some people have the one person they dont match up with …….. rampage could be chucks
March 26th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
o yeah … i still hope chuck whoops his ass…..like he did
vernon tiger white
March 26th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
but I personaly don’t think that liddel well get a chance to fight rampage again cause there is alot of other big names that want to fight him and well in the ufc it is all about money and fame and I think that they wanna see someone else fights when a person has lost twice to a person they are always gonna look for someone else to fight him and plus rampage has made it clear that he does not wanna fight ice man again
March 27th, 2008 at 6:02 am
I will say that Liddell is what the highest or second highest paid fighter in the UFC. We all know there is one thing Dana likes more than MMA and thats MONEY!!! So, whether you like it or not, whoever wins liddell vs. evans is going to get a shot. Rashad will get it after forrest does. Liddell may have to win one more fight. He got beat by Jardine, I think that was becauser he looked past him a bit not because jardine is a great fighter. he beat the Axe murderer which carries alot of weight considering they both DOMINATED there erspective weight class for a couple years in their organizations. I will be pissed if a few guys keep getting passed up. Thiago Silva deserves a shot in my opinion, Lyoto Machiada is on the cusp. Wandi wins a fight or two more, he will get a shot. THEY NEED TO START MAKING THE CHAMPS FIGHT MORE FREQUENTLY SIX MONTHS BETWEEN FIGHTS IS BUUUUULLLLLLLSHIIIIIIIIIITT
March 27th, 2008 at 6:20 am
Wandi should drop to MW… he’s a really small LHW in the UFC - Chuck was much bigger than him!
March 27th, 2008 at 8:34 am
ROY and JEREMY are right i forgot about the 1st fight RAMPAGE made CHUCK tap to punches… PUNCHES.
RASHAAD does have a strong high kick but the one he nailed was against that bumb SALMON. CHUCK KO’d SOBRAL with the same move while SOBRAL was backing up which is nearly impossible unless you have the perfect angle. Now STEVEO Rampage hasn’t been fighting because he and GRIFFIN are coaches on the TUF show and it is hard to have a number 1 contender if none of the top 5 has looked impressive. CHUCK should have KO’d Wanderlei after losing to JARDINE. JARDINE got killed by HOUSTON ALEXANDER one of the best beat downs i ever saw. RASHAAD couldn’t stop BISBING even though he won. If CHUCK KO’s RASHAAD he will get a title shot. If RASHAAD can find a way to win he will HAVE to get a title shot. And if JARDINE or WANDERLEI can KO get’s a knock out one of them should get a title shot. It is not like the welterweight division when HUGHES was killing everyone and GSP was killing the same people . There was a champ and a clear cut # 1 CONTENDER. in the LHW division with all the talent they have their is no clear cut TOP contender. Even GRIFFIN got KO’d by JARDINE and loss to TITO. Unless someone does something impressive it will be just like this for a while
March 27th, 2008 at 9:27 am
I will give you that. Right now there isnt a clear #1 guy. You have to admit a convincing win by Machiada would definitely push him up there at least in the top 3, the others being the winner of liddell vs. evans being one, and winner of jardine vs. Wandi being the other and arguably you can through Silva in there if he gets a convincing win. The lines are blurred but I think in the next few ppvs all the dust will settle and we will figure out whos the real deal.
March 27th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
205 division is stacked, Everybody cant be a contender, Heres where it gets dirty
Jardine has wins over Liddell and Griffin, if he can pull it off against Wandi, then we got a #1 contender. Griffin will have to win and Liddell will have to win and Jardine will have to lose in order for Liddell to get a title shot. If Evans Wins and Griffin Wins we will see a Evans Vs. Griffin TUF 1 vs. TUF 2, Jardine wont play a factor in this due to him losing to Evans in TUF. If Jackson wins (which I expect) and Liddell wins, Kieth Jardine will have to lose in order for Liddell/Jackson 2, If Wandi Wins, Liddell Wins and Jackson Wins, Liddell Vs. Jackson 2 and thats the only way Liddell could possibly get another title shot. So heres the Way I see it playing out
Jackson Vs. Jardine. Its the way it’ll play out.
March 27th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Oh yeah Lyoto Machida, If He wins (which i’m pretty sure ‘ol Ortiz isnt gonna pose much of a problem) Machida will need one more solid win to get into the title Mix, when he wins he will definently need to be ranked.

RIC your right about everything except RAMPAGE & LIDDELL fought twice already so if something crazy happens it would be RAMPAGE vs ICEMAN 3 not 2. But you are 100% dead on if JARDINE beats WANDERLEI (even by desicion) he would have to get a title shot especially if GRIFFIN finds a way to beat RAMPAGE. JARDINE’S knock out of GRIFFIN and convincing desicion over ICEMAN carries a lot of weight and a clear victory over WANDERLEI would put him at the top of the list. TITO may be a little old (he is only 32) does have a chance to win even though MACHIDA is the favorite. TITO has really only lossed against CHUCK recently other than that his recent record isn’t that bad. Just his last 2 fights he was gassed by the 3rd round against 2 TOP YOUGER fighters (GRIFFIN and RASHAAD) but he still didn’t lose he just didn’t look great.

Duh,
No way Rashad can stand with Chuck, and what is all this if he gets chuck down stuff? Who has ever beaten chuck in ground and pound, Rampage 1 was the only one. No way you can keep chuck down, so, Unless Rashad knocks him out, no way to beat chuck on the ground.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:29 am
evans is going down FINALLY!!
March 31st, 2008 at 9:08 am
DUH COUTURE finshed chuck on the ground in their 1st fight. Mounted him and pounded him out that was back when everyone thout the NATURAL was unbeatable.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:01 pm
evans is no couture !! by no means
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:57 am
Evans is gonna get knocked out…I would have rather seen him fight Thiago Silva and Liddell fight Shogun
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:47 pm
OK I will give you that couture ground and pound liddell. But are we seriously going to put Rashad in the same category as one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport (liddell or couture pick one). Cmon, couture would kill Evans in the first round at the ripe old age of 55 or whatever he is. All I am saying is I dont think that rashad knows what he got himself into.
April 4th, 2008 at 11:33 am
I don’t think he will ground and pound ICEMAN. I even picked CHUCK to win but it will not be a easy fight like most people think. As I said before RASHAAD’s bet chance is fight from the clinch where he is pretty good staying to close for CHUCK to get off any of those bombs. That is the same way he beat JARDINE in TUF 2.
April 4th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Rashad can hold his own against any opponent but Chuck has more potential to finish the fight. I see Rashad doing well but I can’t see him making it 3 rounds against Chucks punching power. I think somewhere along the way Rashad gets rocked and Chuck will finish it on the ground.
April 5th, 2008 at 7:09 am
I think Rashad has the impressive record that he does for a reason. He is going to give Liddell a run for his money thats for sure, but I could see him taking Liddell down.
April 8th, 2008 at 1:22 am
I can not believe what I’ve just read!
Rashad is not in the same planet as Couture yet alone the same league!
Randy Couture is the most awesome of ground and pound MMA fighters and he openly admits that Chuck is nigh on impossible to get down or keep down on the canvass.
The first fight saw Randy dominate because Randy had shocked Chuck by going toe to toe with him and actually out boxed him, something that no one expected. Chuck learned from that loss! The next two fights proved that.
Rashad has not got and will never have Randy’s ground game so I can’t see him dominating Chuck on the floor.
I do believe that Chuck is his own worse enemy though and he may well go into the fight underestimating Rashad, if this is the case then it will go the distance and will be an ugly fight.
Come on Chuck! Knock Rashad out!
April 8th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
i read in an interview that rashad says hes gonna stand with chuck…wow big mistake in my opinion…i see this fight going down like this, rashad tries to stand and exchange with chuck, he wont like it and if he’ll shoot for a takedown, and like always chuck wont go down and he’ll be forced to stand with chuck…then he’ll eventually get ko’d….and if he does get chuck down then chuck will just pop up about eight seconds later…chuck by tko rd 2
April 9th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Hold on no one said that RASHAAD is COUTURE. 1 guy said CHUCK has never been GROUND & POUNDed then I corrected him and said COUTURE did excatly that. I have said multiple times I don’t see him taking down CHUCK too often if at all. Again I say RASHAAD’s only chance will be in the clinch against the fence. RASHAAD’s fight style is almost identical to RAMPAGE’s. RAMPAGE is the better fighter of course. But TITO ORTIZ said RASHAAD is one of the STRONGEST guys he has ever fought and he has been in there with CHUCK, COUTURE, WANDERLEI, you name them. CHUCK IS THE FAVORITE to win but this will not be a landslide like EVERYONE thinks. CHUCK get’s worn down in active grappling fights.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:37 am
that’s exactly what ive been tryin to say achilles….you can never underestimate someone like rashad bcuz he will capitalize on the opportunity…i can see rashad beating chuck but it’s going to be a tough fight for both of them
April 21st, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Why doesn’t Vera move down into 205? I’ve been hoping he would for years. It’s clear that he’s never going to make any big waves in the heavyweight division. Vera is like old BJ Penn, too lazy to stay in shape and fight in the weight class they are most effective.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:37 pm
I think right now its only because the LHW division is more stacked with talent than the HW division.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I will agree, with you there Schmac, Vera looks like at heavy weight the same way tim sylvia does except sylvia weighs forty more pounds. Vera needs to sack up and go see what he can do in the ring with some of the big guns at 205, hes got the KO ability, it would be fun to watch but will it happen? Previously on this page I had bashed Micheal Bisping, when McCarthy was acting like a moron be got him in the clinch and smashed him, maybe he will be a much better fighter to watch at 185?
April 25th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Okay, Rashaad Evans Vs. James Irvin…… James Irvin wins in another stunning upset (Not 8 seconds but still a good win by TKO, in the 3rd rnd) Flying Knee.
April 26th, 2008 at 10:29 am
The fight card looked pretty good before chuck messed up his leg. There really isn’t a main event anymore. Bisping Leben should be a fight at the beginning of the night on the main card. I don’t mind the addition of it, but it doesn’t do anything to replace the gap left by Chuck.
In all honesty I think this injury spells the end of any significant comeback for Chuck. I think he’ll only get one more good fight, if he is able to win that and stay healthy he may be able to scrounge a title fight, mainly because the title holder will promote it, welcoming the pay day and the once-solid-now-melting Iceman.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:35 am
James Irvin is gettin owned by Rashad….he cant hang with Rashad stand-up…
Leban is going to get the best of Bisping in a decision bcuz both of them are tough and have solid chins
and finally Matt Hughes is going to retire after gettin TKO’d by Thiago
April 28th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Rashad isn’t as good as everyone says. I’m tired of seein him get the takedown do nothing with it and ink out a decision I think Irvin is going to put Evans out early and shut a lot of people up.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
SURE KENT… IRVIN will beat RSHAAD not likely this will be a good tune up fight for RASHAAD. IRVIN is not that good really he will get finished on the ground. that knee knock out he had was’t even a flying knee he caught a stiff flinching from a fake and while he was crouching down he caught him. won’ happen again. he will get finished on the ground by the end of 2nd round. to bad for RASHAAD, CHUCK and MMA. this would help both fighters and the UFC top fighters going at it
April 29th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
erik your a retarted because irvin stand up is a lot better then rashed.. and matt is not going to lose i promise that one.. the guy matt is fighting got lucky in his last to fights chris and karo both were win then chirs got cut and the doc stopped it and karo was being to cocky vut matt is going to put Thiago Alves down for the count
April 29th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
chris is going to knock out bisping.. i think chris is a little better on the ground but i dont see this fight going to the ground and i think chris has more power and a way better chin.. bisping chin is weak ross point almost knock him out on the TUF show and matt hamill rocked him every time he punched mike and rashed even rocked mike so i dont know how bisping is going to win but i do like them both
April 30th, 2008 at 7:28 am
Rashad will win, Thiago will win, and Chris will win
April 30th, 2008 at 9:17 am
As an avid Bisping hater this is hard for me to say, but I think he can win this, granted Mccarthy is nothing special, bisping looked good, and Leben although vastly improved still gambles quite a bit and will one day cost him. I c the winner of this to be the front runner for who gets to get knocked out by andersen silva next. It must suck to know even if you get a shot you may as well not show up for the fight. If hughes losses this, hes done, a win he may fight again but the mental toll of GSP stomping his ass has got to be on his mind. And I could honestly care less who wins the evans irvin match, two B class fighters getting a chance to get some more unwarranted hype.
April 30th, 2008 at 9:44 am
tom i think you need to get your english and your facts straight….first off rashad WILL dominate james irvin he will use his wrestling to his advantage and kick his ass on the ground
thiago is on a 6 fight win streak and has some of the heaviest hands ive seen comin from the newer UFC fighters….hughes already admitted that he has been re-thinkin his status in MMA after his loss to GSP and after he gets beat by Alves he will think about it a little harder
May 1st, 2008 at 2:13 pm
You guys don’y give BISBING enough credit especially seeing that for a guy that usally goes about 210 was fight LightHeavyWeights who weigh - in on fight nite @ 205 but normally weigh 230 - 245 and just cut weight 2 days before the fight. RASHAAD was knocking down guys that went 6′8″ 260 on TUFshow. and has a bunch of 205 KO’s so the fact that he didn’t get stopped should say a little. This fight will should be the BEST fight on that card because LEBEN trades w/ anyone and BISBING will trade w/ LEBEN just because he thinks he is bigger and stronger. Thisis a TOSS UP.
May 5th, 2008 at 5:58 am
No gripe there ACH I think this is the biggest fight of both of these guys career. Leben needs a big win to get in the hunt for the title. Bisping would have to almost be the front runner if he wins this fight based on his prowess at light heavyweight and the draw he brings in hees the natural choice to get a shot if he wins. But either way its a waste because I don’t think either would have a prayer with the spider.
May 5th, 2008 at 9:41 am
yeah STEVEO when one guy is so far ahead of his whole divsion like SILVA is no one else really matters. We just have to wait and see how he finishes one of these guys. Because if one of these guys gets a KO win they would most likely get a guaranteed title shot. thern its their funeral
