Guys,

What you need to understand is... when someone loses the Ultimate Fighter reality show as Jardine did... Dana still offers some of the fighters contracts. He offers them low money contracts for 5-6 fight deals so he can give them a chance to work up the laddar. Now... one of the downfalls of this is that you become the proving ground for strong fighters. You usually are the piece of meat that is tossed to them so they can advance THEIR careers. In Jardine's case.. he's outperformed his contract.. but its STILL A CONTRACT. He didnt have to sign that deal but he wanted IN the UFC even tho he didnt WIN the show. So he takes the risk. His next contract I can guarantee will be for more money.

Dana White is a classless asshole who is making millions on the broken noses of some great athletes. He is worse than than the boxing promoters (Think Don King) who ripped off fighters and left them broke and homeless. Unless White starts running a respectable organization that properly pays its talent, and properly respects its champions, Dana is going to be sitting in front of a congressional commission, learning about Federal anti-monopoly laws, and he's going to be getting to deal with an employees union that WILL call a walkout before one of his events.
Fair is fair, Dana, and your greed is going to cost you.

I dont even like tito and I would love to watch him kick the shit out of dana. 10 grand for Jardine, what a fucking cocksucker. The guy was what looked like nearly dead on the mat and you pay him ten thousand bucks. What a fucker I hope Karma gets that asshole real soon.

DANA WHITE,

What a cheese ball. The guy walks around with that smile on his face like he owns the world. He is crooked, that is the bottom line. The Fighters train day in and day out to perform at a level entertaining enough for fans to pay for. Once you divide there pay across the three months it takes to prepare for the fight, most these guys are making minimum wage. What the sport needs is competition in the Market. The fighter(s) need to negotiate pay outs based on a fight by fight bases and stay away from Danas” fight for free, fight for me, you are now in the UFC contracts” Dana, being the control freak he is will not allow a fight by fight negotiation and he often refers the fighters as his “Fighters” he is ruling the UFC like a dictatorship and if another organization would step in, pick up some of the great fighters like fedora, treat them right, and pay them well, over time the good fighters will sign with the new organization. This will force Dana to change his business plan or the credibility of the UFC would go down once the fighters cross over to the new organization.

PS I would love to see Dana fight Tito in a cage, I would pay 100.00 PPV.
Also, Lyoto is the most boring fighter in the UFC, he ran from Tito the entire fight, the only credit I will give him is for his take down defense. But his training must consist of running backwards for hours.

Well if you remeber the GSP vs. Koscheck fight, KOS got paid around 10k for the fight in which he lost by UD to GSP.

I honestly think that some of these guys are seriously underpaid although I do believe that some of them are paid more than what we see upfront. Not ever fighter gets a PPV cut. One would think that there is really no way for a fighter to survive of making only 10k a fight especially when it comes down to paying for taxes, gym dues, hospital expenses etc. Even fighters making less than that are probably living at home with their parents or live with roomates because there is no way you can survive off of income like that. Even if you fight 5 times a year, and only make 8 or 10k you are still struggling in my eyes.

THe fact is the UFC has alot of power in the MMA world, and most fighters that have fought in smaller events know that this is more money than they will probably make elsewhere. It sucks but you really have to put in your time and at the same time, people have to want to see you fight.

I don't know the official numbers but I don't think any of the top guys are struggling to make ends meet. At the very least they can make money on sponsors and celebrity status. There are probably 2 guys on the undercards that don't get paid well inside or out of the ring, but it's their shot.

As far as celebrity status, Jardine definitely has that now. He's not Mike Tyson who is broke but can eat anywhere for free still. But I'll bet he gets a lot of hook ups in Albuquerque.

yeah im with the majority of you guys. a lot of those fighters get paid more than what is listed here, especially those top fighers like wanderlei, tito, machida, and especially bjpenn. all those guys are getting PPV cuts. the other guys working their way up get their money from part time jobs (i.e. trainer at the gym they train at), and/or sponorships (i.e. goran reljic actualy has 3 sponsorships from croatia). i mean, look at all the sponsorships on the pants the fighters wears. that's got to be a couple thousand right there. tito said in his book that he used to work for a sex toy store called spanky's. he was only on his 3rd fight, and the manager not only gave him flexible hours, but paid 6 months of his apartment rent, his cell phone bills, and extra spending money... in exchange for tito to wear a spankys logo and give spankys a shout out at the post-interview.

Saturday's pay did not seem equitable in regards to the tenure, opponents, and wins....but they signed a contract. Why would anyone sign for 10K to fight most fighters in the UFC? A contract is a contract. If you sign it, then you should do the right thing and abide by it. Jardine was on TUF a while back...meaning that if he is still on the same contract, he signed it to provide himself with longer financial income. If he would have lost all of his fights, the UFC would have had to pay him or still put him out there. As far as the UFC goes, they should reward some of the fighters that have been there longer, regardless of the contract. They are in a better position to tear a contract up and make things right. I agree with fedor24, expect more defections...specially if Affliction and some of the organizations take off. The UFC needs to treat their fighters better. I just hope I never hear Tito cry again about how much he makes. He made $210 for that crap??? He basically cried during the match and then threw in a triangle in the ladt minute. 210 for a triangle? I could have done that for 25k :) I am getting so tired of all the drama and B.S. from the UFC and some of the fighters. I will give Tito credit for leaving. I always beleived that if you are not happy with your employer, girlfriend, etc, then instead of staying and being unhappy, LEAVE!
