UFC 79 “Nemesis” Medical Suspensions

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has released is UFC 79 medical suspensions following the December 29th event at the Mandalay Bay Events center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The following 9 fighters were handed down suspensions:
Matt Hughes
- No injury specified
- Suspended until January 29th
- No contact until January 20th.
Wanderlei Silva
- Right eye laceration
- Suspended until February 13th
- No contact until January 29th
Chuck Liddell
- Left eye laceration
- Suspended until January 29th
- No contact until January 20th
Soa Palelei
- Nasal and left orbital fractures
- Must be cleared by ophthalmologist or no contest until June 27th
Rameau Sokoudjou
- Right eyebrow laceration
- Suspended until February 13th
- No contact until January 29th
James Irvin
- No injury specified
- Suspended until February 28th
- No contact until February 13th
Nate Mohr
- No injury specified
- Suspended until January 20th
- No contact until January 13th
Tony DeSouza
- No injury specified
- Suspended until January 29th
- No contact until January 20th
Doug Evans
- Left thumb injury and left eyebrow laceration
- Must be cleared by doctor or no contest until June 27th
- Suspended until February 13th
- No contact until January 29th

It doesn’t mention that Mohr tore a ligament in his knee from Gamburyan. He’s going to be out a lot longer than one month.

its not over yet. hughes has already stated that if serra loses to gsp he would probably be interested in fighting serra. war hughes!!!

Hughes is NOT a dick, he is well respected by all UFC fighters (except Serra because he has no class). I am a St.Pierre fan, but I take nothing away from a champion.

i hope serra wins(doutfull) just so hughes will fight him,if serra still has the belt i am sure hughes will go after it,if serra loses matt might just retire rather than fighting serra for no belt and have a chance at loes to him for nothing

“Matt” & Brandon-
You two cannot be serious! Hughes has a record that speaks for it self. He doesn’t talk shit like some do (Serra) and he represents what a true UFC fighter should be. Again I must say, I am a solid St.Pierre fan, but Matt deserves everything thing he has gotten through his carrer. He if does retire, which I think he should now that he has lost to St.Pierre again, he and his professionalism will be missed. That’s all I am going to say about that….next issue?
