Back to the fights. Herring gave that fight away. I can’t decide if he was just afraid to go in on Nog or if UFC put out so much money for Nog that they couldn’t afford for him to loose his first fight. Tell me Herring didn’t throw that fight, he had it in the bag. If I had bet on that SOB & he pulled that shit, I would have beat his ass myself. As for Tito & Rashad…pretty good fight. Rashad was nerves as hell & couldn’t seem to get going, great experiance for him though & I think he held his own against a seasoned fighter. I couldn’t believe Tito started to gas in the 3rd. This dude is known for his cardio, right? Silva, this guy is the shit! GREAT fighter, class act. Good fights all the way around.

After than fight I think Tito should move to EliteXC. He was pretty slow the whole fight and gassed in the third, you can’t do that against tough competition. On top of that, he fought Rashad because he thought it would be a better fight for him than Keith Jardine.

I think Silva has shown dominance on his feet. He has shown good ground defense and submitted Lutter, which I consider a very good BJJ blackbelt. Even if he doesn’t submit you, he will use knees and elbows to soften you up.
He is smart as hell. Remember his fight with Franklin. When he was in the clinch he first threw knees to the body. He was able to get some good clean knees and when Franklin was softened up a little there, he focused on blocking knees to the body…thats when Silva transitioned and threw knees to the head.
Nobody is safe in MMA, but I think Silva is about as safe as you can get, he will be very good for years to come.

The other dominant fighter in the UFC is Sherk. He is not a good finisher, but he is athletic and strong enough to outpoint anyone in that division. Thats what wrestlers do, they know how to transition into dominant positions by technique and good body balance and leverage.

Thats true he was in trouble against Lutter. But he wasn’t hurt that badly which is why the fight didn’t stop. He got the guy in a triangle…which is something that you shouldn’t be getting caught in when you are a blackbelt in bjj.
the guy sunk it in and instead of using all of his energy to finish it. He was patient and softened lutter up with elbows.
in his last fight look at when he had marquardt on the ground and had his right hand cocked. he waited and waited…then took out marquardt with one good punch.
