UFC 72: Martin Kampmann Out, Yushin Okami In

By CagE | May 8, 2007

Okami to fight Franklin

According to MMAFighting.com,Yushin Okami will be replacing middleweight contender Martin Kampmann as Rich Franklin’s opponent in UFC 72. As announced yesterday, Kampmann had to withdrawal for the fight due to a devastating knee injury. If Kampmann has to get surgery on his knee, It is likely he will not fight till at least the end of the year. Okami who is 20-3 overall and 4-0 in the UFC, had an impressive win over Mike Swick in UFC 69. Okami is a beast and is going to give Franklin a tough fight for a title shot against Anderson Silva. Bad luck for Kampmann, but I really want to see Franklin vs. Okami.

UFC 72 will take place on June 16 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
