What's up with GSP spitting water in the air, if it was water. He's been accused of greasing already and it looked like he was trying to slick down.

  2. Awesome fights! Except the gsp fight was kinda weird. Other than that though, even the prelims were all good!

The Karate Kid uses the Crane to KO Captain America!

Vlady showed he still has some umph.

We finally see Aldo in trouble (even if what was only the last part of the last round), and we get to see what it would look like if Mark Hominick started growing vegetables out of his head. I completely agree with fotn on this one.

Henderson showed off his excellent submission escapes, as well as some aggressive beats for a well earned decision.

Nate Diaz got beat pretty handily. Not much to say about it.

And as for the other pre-lims: We got a flying triangle on a prelim card. I thought garza was finished so many times in that fight too. Jason got a nice triangle too, but not nearly as slick as garza.

Poor Kyle Watson. I was really rootin for him in this fight. Out cold off that shot.

Like I said before, epic night of fights.

  3. Nate Diaz got punked ….

  4. mma maniac says:

GSP vs. Shields was worse than silva vs. maia. Dana arent you gonna be mad at GSP now? Pathetic fight thats it

  5. UFC has had some shitty shows here lately. The last few months my Dish network bill has been cheap. Think God for Strikeforce free on SHOTIME. Why dont Dana combine Strikeforce and UFC fighters for some really good fight cards.

  6. It did suck that the main event was a crappy, but literally every other fight was at very least good.

  7. I agree with you guys. GSP hasn't been a finisher since he got KO'd by Matt Sera (outside of his Huges fight). I think that changed him and he doesn't take the chanced he did before to finish fights. Shields is tough, really tough, and GSP needed to put himself at risk to finish the fight.

  8. JBrennan says:

Word is that Dana is talking about Nick Diaz to fight GSP. I think that will be a good fight. I don't think GSP wants to fight Anderson Silva yet.

  9. Kung Fu Panda says:

I agree that he does not want to fight AS and after that performance he does not deserve it. Even though it was a convincing (I doubt that anyone thinks he lost) victory, it was not dominant. Shields was able to hang in there with less than average stand-up for a professional MMA fighter. I'll give GSP the benefit of the doubt on possibly not being able to see for part of the fight but even before the injury occured, he was not necessarily pounding Shields. If he was picking him apart and then the injury slowed him down, then it would be understandable. I like and respect Shields overall but he is someone that really only poses a danger with his submission skills. For Hendo to have rocked him (although he did not finish him and eventually lost), Mayhem to almost choke him, and Martin to fight him so closely…GSP should have dominated him. I was pretty disappointed.

Nobody is talking about the Machida KO. That is the second time that the front kick to the face has been used. I would expect to see it more and more and fighters will have to rethink their distance when striking. I love how the sport evolves. There always seems to be, either, an old martial arts move that was never used in MMA, one that has not been used in a while, or something new or with a new variation to it.

  10. I bet Nick Diaz got a look at the fight bonuses for this one and said "Hell Yeah I'll fight GSP".

  11. Nichole Lesniak says:

*rolls eyes* GSP is by no means the kind of guy to dodge fighters. While his performance against Shields was no exactly spectacular, I think that's equally a testament to Shields' game. You tend to fight at the level of your opponent.
