UFC 112: BJ Penn vs Frankie Edgar?

Sports Illustrated’s Josh Gross seems to know who BJ Penn’s next opponent will likely be. Gross twitted that Frankie Edgar will “very likely” be Penn’s next opponent at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.

Hearing from several places Frankie Edgar is the front runner to fight BJ Penn in April. Nothing set in stone, but I’m told “very likely.”

Well just have to see how this plays out, Edgar (11-1) has been tearing through lightweights ever since he lost to Gray Maynard in 2008.

  1. edgar hasnt beaten anyone good..franca is a joke, the guy he just bet was a no body and a easy fight..also grey wooped edgars ass..

Kurt Pellegrino vs jim miller i want to see and thety should make it happend..

  2. assgrinder says:

this is true but there is not much competition left for penn in the ufc.

maynard deserves the shot first if he wins monday no doubt but edgar is second then tyson griffon probably next

none of these guys will even make this close anyway.

Jose Aldo and Gilbert Milendez are the only other 2 oustsise ufc fighters that would contend

  3. Hmmm, I thought Edgar was fighting at 111 in his home state?

  4. At the moment edgar has the most well rounded game to put against bj, my view is if any lightweight is going to beat bj it would be florian..and look how that went. Bj is a level above every lightweight out there

  5. hey tom think u forgot edgar outclassed sherk who was a former champ…franca was former number 1 contender…he also has victory over tyson griffin hes got great boxing and better wrestling..that being said bj is on another planet and doesnt look like he will be beaten anytime soon…get ur facts straight

  6. i was hoping it would be maynard.

  7. Though I am a fan of Edgar, so I wouldn't mind seeing this if they did make it happen.

  8. also, Josh Gross is an idiot, so it’s probably not anywhere close to being true….
