UFC 108: Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin Off, Nogueira vs Velasquez In The Works

By CagE | November 4, 2009

brock-lesnar-ufc-87

Its a no go for Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin at UFC 108. Apparently Brock Lesnar has a case of mono.

Guys my manager Jason Genet just told me that UFC 108 is not happening. Brock has Mono and what the UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shoot but I have to wait for the title holder. [ShaneCarwin]

Lesnar pulled out of their fist scheduled meeting at UFC 106 after being sidelined with a mysterious illness.

Not all bad news, the Brazilian site Tatame is reporting that a heavyweight matchup between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria is currently being discussed.

Brazilian Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira was rumored to fight the loser of the title fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin, but the postponement of the bout forced the UFC to change the plans …. Nogueira’s manager confirmed that the Brazilian will face the undefeated heavyweight Cain Velasquez at UFC 108

Sucks for Lesnar and Carwin. Nog and Velasquez should be good though. I hope Nog looks better in this fight.

i just think its funny all these people were accusing a fighter that started his pro career fighting world champions of dodging someone like carwin. the guy went to a football game and every loser acts like they are detectives and know his life. its amusing.

i don’t think he’s faking it, but this is definatly putting the HW div. out of wack. i mean cain was to fight the winner of carwin v. lesnar, now if he does lose to Big Nog what happens then…. NOG gets the shot?(he got ktfo’d by Mir then UD’d randy that doesn’t qualify for a #1 conterder fight in my books) they should have Cain V Dos Santos for the #1. NOW, with that being said i don’t think Carwin deserves the title shot yet either, but the UFC needed a big dude to go in there and not get thrown around, therfore carwin is a good choice. or maybe they should just put that carwin v cain fight back on… i really wanted to see that!!!! I don;t know i’m just rambling..lol

Regardless of what you guys think should happen, the winner of big nog vs cain will get the title shot vs. carwin/lesnar victor.

IMO, why not give them all a shot? Cain and Carwin are undefeated, Big Nog beat down Randy who just had a title shot, and Dos Santos hasn’t lost in a couple years and has wrecked the last few opponents he fought.

Just be happy Cro Cop’s name isn’t being thrown in the mix. hahaha.

This sucks, who knows when we will see lesnar fight my guess is UFC 110. Mono in adults is deadly especially if your an athlete, i mean come on for the day to day go ers its a week or 2 off of work and then your okay. But for an athlete its worse as you see Mono virus trapts itself inside your cells and when you work out you break down your immune system further which gets you sicker. Best thing to do is to rest and get better and than train. As i have said before i never want to see a fighter fight when there less than 100% or been sick for weeks its not fair to anyone. Carwin vs Lesnar will happen its just going to be awhile, i hope he gets better soon and its smart of him not to take this lightly and fight, i mean come on were talking your health here not just a fucking fight.

I am happy to hear Crop Cop is coming back but if fights the way he did last time around, he may as well just give it up overall and retire.

So wait, Dane and Dane Drebin are the same person? I think this is going to suck for the guys on top at a deeper level. For example Carwin or Cain, either they fight more before Lesnar is ready and risk losing their place in line for the belt, or they wait quite a while for the title shot. Either way, we don’t see a title defense for quite some time. Stupid mono.

HEY, RANDOM/LESNAR lover, the guy (Lesnar) is a b**ch champ how maney fights has he had since he got that title? let me help you out with that…..umm..NONE! THAT’S “0″!! ZIP!! NADA!! ZILCH!! you lay off the drugs dumbass!!!!!!!!!

  21. CobraClutch Says:
    November 11th, 2009 at 9:26 am

shawn, the guy (Lesnar) just won the belt in July (only four months ago), and had a scheduled fight this month. But he got sick. give the guy a fair shot to defend his title before you claim he’s afraid of everyone and start insulting people.

  22. Tim Says:
    November 11th, 2009 at 9:27 am

Shawn your wrong he has had 1 against Mir he beat Couture which made him the real champ and than he fought to unify and to see who is the real UFC champion, technically he defended his title 1 time so far. Mono isnt something to take lightly for an athlete, he must get better first and that can take some time, i want to see him fight at his best and put on great shows, i wouldnt want to see any fighter fight at less than 100% or being sick as in Nog that was a joke.
