Tito Ortiz Back In Contract Negotiation’s With The UFC?

By CagE | August 19, 2008

The Dalton Daily News has the scoop, after the “record breaking” contract with Affliction failed to materialize, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is apparently in talks with EliteXC, AFL and even the UFC.

“I don’t know if we’re really negotiating, or simply helping Tito stroke his giant ego,” one frustrated company [UFC] representative said Sunday, Aug. 17.

Ortiz left the UFC to try his hand at landing a bigger contract with another promotion.

In recent interviews, Affliction and EliteXC promoters express that Tito is demanding a high dollar amount to fight for their promotions.

Is Tito worth it? Can he bring in the PPV buys that will cover his high price tag, or will the promotion
take a pass on the 33 year old fighter.

Dude this guy seriously needs to win before he starts bitching about money…. LOL affliction wouldn’t even pay him the money he wanted.

i agree, if he was winning this would be a different story but he hasn’t looked dynamic in a while.

he is so stupid. he is buying into his own hype and it will burn him in the end.

Tito must believe that if he says something enough that it becomes true and that the rest of the world is blind and haven’t seen him fight lately. The guy’s a joke and doesn’t even know it.

It’s too the point where if you’re still a huge Tito fan then you should be embarrassed. I used to be 1 but that was back when he could still when fights. You CAN NOT be cocky and think you’re still somebody if you can’t back it up in the cage.

i agree man, tito is another washed up fighter. i used to like him when he was whoopin the lions den but that was like 10 years ago. even then he bought his own hype too much, now its just kinda pathetic.

I agree with a lot of the comments… the 205 division in the UFC is totally different today compared to when Tito was the Champ…
Although I quite like him his fight style has not evolved and now he’s probably not even top 20 in the world…

Below in no Particlar order are 20 other fights better

    1.Chuck – Obviously
    2.Rampage – Obviously
    3.Wandi – Tito has a W over him but he’d lose today
4.Macida -Like his style or not – He made tito look rubbish
5.Thiago Silva – All round better skill set
6.Griffin – Forrest won that fight (really)
    7.Henderson (at 205) – Better Wrester & Strker!
    8.Shogun – He’ll be back!
    9.Vera (at 205)
    10.Anderson Silva (at 205) – Obviously
    11.Little Nog
    12.Alistair Overeem (at 205)
13.Couture – if he fought at 205 again
    14.Babalu – We’ll soon see hopefully
    15.Franklin (at 205)
16.Hamill – the same but stronger & more hungry
17.Arona – Where is he just now??
    18.Jardine – on a good day
    19.Bonner – on a good day
20.Evans – Well, tito seemed scared of the re-match!

Probably forgotten a few others too!

on a good day, Bonner would tear tito a new asshole on an average day. I have to agree all those names right now are bigger draws than tito, well to the informed fan that is, all the new generation of fans love tito because of his name not because he hasnt won a meaningful fight in what 3 or 4 years? great you beat up an 84 year old Ken Shamrock (also filed under wasjed up) twice. Shamrock is a legitimate legend, he did it when you fought guys twice or even three times your size and then maybe 3 or 4 times a night but like someone said above the 205 division has ten guys in it now that would have beaten tito in his prime (maybe). The game has just evolved hughes, tito, and a laundry list of others are just getting left behind.

tito is washed up he barely beat forrest and evans, and got his as kicked in his last fight, even back in the day when he was on top he never fought real tuff guys any ways, tito as been over rated his intire carrer nobody should sign with him he’s a joke and should just sit on the sidelines and watch the pro’s.

I do not agree with some: Griffin, Vera, Overeem, Babalu, Franklin,Hamill, Arona Jardine and def Bonnar. Maybe even couture wouldn’t win this time.

Tito is still better then a lot of those fighters on the list. Remember he did beat rashad in rounds in their draw and he did beat forrest and why do people say forrest won if anything it should be a draw b/c tito spanked him 10-8 in the first round. And with the takedown in the 3rd tito put it away.
