  1. Why did Nate get the same amount as all the other guys that won their fights that night? It seems to me that Nate & Manny should have gotten more just for making it through without loosing all season. They should have gotten an extra buck or two just for being the finale fighters & Nate even more for winning. Let go of some of those big bucks Dana. I know Nate gets the big contract & thats great, but they (he & Manny) should have gotten a little more than the guys who all lost their fights. Oh well, just bitchin'! At least they let Nick in to watch!!!!

Yeah I agree the people in the finals should have gotten more cash. But they did get a lot of perks for making it there, like free cell phone service and free cable.

What pisses me off is that fighters are still making $2000 or $3000 fighting in the UFC. If you make it to the UFC you should get at least 5 grand.

They can make that kind of money in almost any organization, like KOTC, where the main fighters make about 2000 or more.

  3. I didn't think that sounded like much that those guys got paid. I'm sure I've paid for half those guys wages just by getting all the PPV I've ordered. So UFC needs to take care of these guys so they can keep doing what they love & at least have a good chance of making it without worrying about how they're going to eat. They're lucky if they get a couple fights a year, healing up after fights & all. I guess where there's a will there's a way. I admire their drive. A BIG difference in Jenns & Penn, 70,000., wow!

This is why a lot of world class fighters don't have much respect for the UFC (even some in the organization). This payout is a joke!! Can you imagine what the actual pay is AFTER taxes! The percentage they take out for taxes on fights are much higher than regular work taxes.

The UFC made MILLIONS that night and THIS is what they give the fighters for putting their life on the line!?!

…and don't even get me started on the sponsorship control (monopoly really) the UFC has over its fighters….I helped someone in my group deal with this shit first hand and the more I find out about all this crap (and believe me, there is MUCH more crap) the more disheartened I've become.

The UFC could be so great…

  5. God this makes me ill. All I've heard for years is how corupt boxing is. I use to watch boxing with my Dad when I was growing up. It really ruined it for me. I hope the MMA doesn't fall by the wayside too. All fighters deserve respect, it's a true art form & just getting in the cage takes balls of steel. They deserve every dollar they get. How does UFC compare to other MMA associations? I for one am on this band wagon. Pay these guys what they are worth & allow them to have sponsers. Who do we write to about this ?

  6. As I'm sure you guessed, I'm new to all this & talking with others about a sport I love to watch has been a real eye opener for me. We are the ones that put money in the UFC's pocket, "Shirley" they don't want to piss us off. There are other promoters & organizations out there, I watched some kickass fights on EliteXC just last week. I just need to know who & where to start bitchin' to. Women are good for something!!!!!!

  7. Whatever the UFC is doing I'll bet they are trying to learn as much as they can from Vince McMahon and the WWE as far as how to keep a monopoly. Pro Wrestling has had its competitors, but the WWE bought out its main competition the WCW when it challenged their orgainization. Sounds a lot to me like what the UFC did with Pride.

They are probably doing the same thing with contracts and ripping these guys off as much as they can until they get superstar status.

You're right I dont even want to know what these guys make after taxes and whatever else they ahve to pay for. Three months training for three thousand doesnt seem like a good deal to me.

  8. Compare Strikeforce payouts to UFC. Penn got the same as Chung Le, WOW

  9. This is certainly a difficult time for us all in these trying times. I feel that the market has seen the worst of the downturns. This is not to say that there won't be any more bad news resulting in market downturns.
