Tchau Rio: Silva vs. Sonnen 2 Likely In Vegas

The long anticipated rematch between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will not likely go down in Rio. Apparently, the logistics on holding a UFC event on the same weekend of a large United Nations convention is to much for the city to handle, according to UFC President Dana White.

“This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN’s event, Rio+20”, Guiamares said.

“(Silva vs. Sonnen’s venue and date) will be announced by Dana White in a press conference in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed yet”.

UFC president Dana White, along with Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, will host a press conference in Brazil next Tuesday.

The “Spider”, who demanded that the rematch needed to take place in Brazil, will accept to fight in Nevada? [Tatame]

The showdown will likely go down July, 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.

  1. Dana Hater says:

Personally I think Dana has known this all along and is trying to do whatever he can to prevent Sonnen from going to Brazil. Either way he is getting his teeth knocked down his throat.

  2. G.B.Hamerick says:

HaHaHa what a joke everyone knows if sonnen went to brazil no body could gurantee that he would live to fight silva. Great excuse dana but sonnen dug his own grave on this one, but nice of you to give UFC fanc a BS excuse

  3. surely there are other places in brazil! maybe it is due to safety concerns or maybe it was never really intended for brazil anything to get anderson to take the rematch and once the media got hold of it how could anderson back out now, another cunning move by dana??
