MMA Coach of the Year Rafael Cordeiro Launches MMA Tutorial Project

Want to learn killer techniques from Rafael Cordeiro, the same master who’s mentored superstars Anderson Silva, Shogun Rua, and Wanderlei Silva to MMA superstardom? Now you’ll get a shot at the opportunity.

In what appears to be a first among the UFC’s elite, Cordeiro has launched today (May 1) an online campaign on Kickstarter.com for his autobiography and MMA tutorial. Rather than sign the usual book deal with a traditional publishing house, Cordeiro has taken matters into his own hands — or rather pass them into the hands of his fans.

Should fans pledge at least $30,000, he will produce both softcover and hardcover versions of his book, which will reveal his championship-winning strategies and techniques, as well as his amazing rags-to-riches life story. And, depending on their individual contributions, fans could also receive autographed swag like posters and T-shirts, exclusive video interviews with Cordeiro and his students, and even a private training session with the master and his top UFC pupils.

His book — tentatively called The Kings MMA Way — promises to divulge tactics for beating strikers, grapplers, and wrestlers. There will be plenty of photos, as well as tips on how to develop a fighter’s mindset, maintain proper nutrition and exercise, and balance your life while trying to enter the MMA business.

A former Muay Thai champion and BJJ black belt with the world-famous Chute Boxe, Cordeiro founded Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, California, where he’s taught everyone from former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano and TUF’s Jamie Yager to top contenders Jake Ellenberger and Mark Munoz. It’s no surprise then that he was named the Shawn Tompkins Coach of the Year at the World MMA Awards ceremony held in January.

If you’re interested in helping make online MMA history, support the project at MMA Tutorial Project.

UFC on Fuel TV 8: Recap

Hector Lombard showed about 50 seconds of greatness in round 3, but it was too late. The former Bellator fighter let Yushin Okami dictate the pace the majority of the fight, and in the end the judges had Yushin Okami defeating Hector Lombard via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28). Mark Hunt ‘s losses in his MMA career had almost all come from being submitted. Stefan Struve took advantage of that quickly and took Hunt out of his element and to the ground.

However, to much surprise, Hunt showed a much improved ground game. Hunt managed to weasel his way out of submission attempts by Struve, and his improved conditioning allowed him to throw some devastating punches that eventually earned him a victory over Struve. Mark Hunt def. Stefan Struve via TKO (punches) – Round 3, 1:44.

Diego Sanchez always puts on a show, and has multiple FOTN honors. However, this Diego didn’t seem like the Sanchez of old. He missed weight which caused him to forfeit part of his winnings, and he didn’t seem in shape or as aggressive as usual. In a uneventful fight, the judges had Diego Sanchez defeating Takanori Gomi via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Many, including Dana White did not agree with that outcome.

In one of the most epic battles we’ve seen in the Octagon as of late. Silva and Stann put on a show, and gave a blueprint to other fighters how to keep a job in the UFC. These two stood toe to toe and let it all hang out in a back and forth battle that saw both fighters connect and hit the canvass a few times. Eventually Silva landed a nasty 1-2 combo that dropped Captain America. Silva KO’s Stann in round 2.

When Will Wanderlei Silva think about retirement?

Maybe it is a time for retirement for “The Axe Murderer”. Wanderlei Silva is a great fighter and the vast majority of mma community has nothing but respect to Silva. No doubt he inspires young fighter. But unfortunately people do not become any younger. And questions about his plans for the future coming back more often especially after every bright fight which is not a victory.

Silva told on radio:
“I have a lot of pressure in all the fights. Right now, all the fights I need to prove I can still fight. All the time I need to prove, and I’m going to prove it again that I’m still a really good fighter and can put on a really good show”

Well, keep it up “The Axe Murderer”, I believe it is possible to be a great and competitive fighter as long as man’s soul does not give up
