Cain Velasquez Injured, A Year End Return In Serious Doubt

UFC heavyweight up and comer Cain Velasquez is scheduled to take on Mustafa Al-Turk at UFC Fight Night 16 “UFC Fights for the Troops” on December 10th, but a source close to the fighter stated that Velasquez underwent surgery for a knee injury.

Velasquez had arthroscopic surgery to smooth out tears in his meniscus, and is currently undergoing physical therapy.

The fight is not officially cancelled but the source is claiming that the fight is in serious doubt.

“My gut feeling is that he won’t make it [UFN 16], A return at UFC 92 on Dec. 27 or UFC 93 on January 31 is likely”

American Kickboxing Academy trained fighter, Cain Velasquez is coming off a dominating performance over Jake O’Brien at UFN “Silva vs. Irvin”

The 2-time All American collegiate wrestler made his UFC debut by defeating Brad Morris by TKO in the first round at UFC 83.
