UFC 108 News: Staph Forces Gabriel Gonzaga Out Of Fight With Junior Dos Santos
The traditional New Years UFC show takes another hit, Gabriel Gonzaga is forced to withdraw from his UFC 108 fight with Junior Dos Santos due to a Staph infection.
“The hits keep coming for the UFC, Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva. The fellas have to scrounge up a quality heavyweight to fight Junior Dos Santos Jan. 2 in Las Vegas at UFC 108. White confirmed that Gabriel Gonzaga is off the card because of staph infection.[Yahoo]”
The obvious replacement would be Cain Velasquez , who is also looking for an opponent after Big Nog Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fell ill to Staph.

UFC 108: Junior Dos Santos vs Gabriel Gonzaga Likely
Big brawling heavyweights Junior dos Santos (9-1) and Gabriel Gonzaga (11-4) will likely fight at UFC 108 on January 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Nothing is signed, but a verbal agreement is in place for the fight.
Dos Santos is coming off a impressive win over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103 “Franklin vs Belfot”. The Brazilian striker has made a quick name for himself in the UFC by racking up wins over Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Mirko Cro Cop.
Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga made quick work of UFC newcomer Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 102 “Couture vs Nogueria”. The win tainted, as a low blow by Gonzaga hurt Tuchscherer, who seemed to never fully recover.
