R2 Network to Air Bellator Events in Russia

Bellator is extending its reaches all over Europe and Asia as it airs in over 80 countries all over the world. Bellator Fighting Championships has expanded its reach once more as it partnered with Russian broadcasting network Russia 2 or R2. This will be the largest MMA broadcast alliance in all history of MMA in Russia.

Beginning September 28, the Bellator Fighting Championships telecasts will be aired exclusively on Russia 2 all over the country. It is expected that over 83 million Russian MMA fans are looking forward to this largest MMA promotion in the entire planet.

Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney has commented: “Over the last year, as the Bellator brand gas experienced enormous growth and out talent team has signed the greatest Russian Mixed Martial Artists in the world., the timing was perfect to align Bellator with Russia’s leading sports network.” He added: “R2 carries the world’s great4est sports to Russian viewers. Russia 2 has its headquarters in Moscow, Russia and has over 83 million audiences all over the country. It has been the network that has brought the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, UEFA Champions League Soccer, Formula One Class racing, EPL and KHL Hockey. Bellator Fighting Championships will join the network’s top class sports programming and will air on R2’s new Fight Club Channel. This will guarantee Russian subscribers the best in combat sports that MMA can offer anywhere.

Other famous Russian fighters are Andrey Koreshkov, Vitaly Minakov, Vyacheslav Vasilevsky and undefeated Alexander Sarnavsky; these fighters are what fans are looking forward to watching inside the ring this 2012 and on 2013.

Alexander Sarnavskiy will debut in Bellator’s Season 7

Undefeated Russian fighter Alexander Sarnavskiy will debut in Bellator’s Season 7 lightweight tournament. Russian fighters often show high level perfomance and no doubt Alexander will add a lot of spectacular moments to Bellator.

Just 23 years old, Sarnavskiy is a four-time veteran of the M-1 Challenge series, notching wins over Sergio Cortez, Beau Baker and Victor Kuku during his time with the Russian promotion. The Rusfighters Sport Club representative has already earned a pair of finishes in 2012, tapping Len Bentley with a triangle choke in February before knocking out Maykel Becerra with a knee on May 26.

MMA News: Viacom Buys Bellator Fighting Championships

According to USAToday, Viacom, the parent company of MTV and SpikeTV has purchased a majority stake in Bellator Fighting Championship. Bjorn Rebney, President and CEO of Bellator, will remain in charge of the organization.

“[Viacom] bought a majority stake in Bellator Fighting Championships and will start airing the promotion’s bouts on Spike in 2013″

The deal will bring Bellator to a more wide audience of which MTV2 can’t currently provide.

This deal is good for MMA.
