Strikeforce News: Babalu Out, Feijao Looking For Opponent For June 6th

By CagE | April 21, 2009

babalu-sobral

Renato “Babalu” Sobral (32-7) has withdrawn from his Strikeforce light heavyweight title fight against Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante (7-1) at Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6th.

Sobral apparently dropped out of the fight for “Personal Reasons”.

Strikeforce is apparently looking for a replacement fighter for Calvalcante, who is regarded as one of the top light heavyweight prospects in the sport.

Babalu won the Strikeforce light heavyweight title last year at Strikeforce “Destruction” by defeating Bobby Southworth by first round TKO (Cut) stoppage.

UPDATE
MMAWeekly:

Renato “Babalu” Sobral, has been forced out of the bout with the due date of his child being born falling too close to the fight.

Or he could be ducking the fight since Feijao doesn’t have a recognizable name and is one of the toughest fighters in the light heavyweight division. Hummmm…
