In the mist of a legal battle over the bones of ProElite, Showtime is already looking get back in MMA by backing Affliction in its upcoming fight card Affliction “Day of Reckoning” on Jan. 24th. Showtime will partner with Oscar De La Hoya’s company Golden Boy to produce and distribute the PPV.

Showtime Sports won’t let a dispute with its former mixed martial arts promotional partner keep it from broadcasting the sport as soon as January, SI.com has learned.

The premium cable network, in conjunction with Golden Boy Promotions, will distribute and produce Affliction’s Jan. 24 pay-per-view card topped by a five-round fight between WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC titleholder Andrei Arlovski.

Official announcement will come Monday, confirmed Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio. [SI.com]

  1. I hope Arlovski wins…

  2. thats perfect. shoelite was always great to watch and now they will coproduce with affliction. it should make the production a lot better.

  3. I think this will end up being a huge plus for Affliction. Hopefully, they can be the organization that makes a run at stopping the ego of Dana White.

  4. there 2nd show is looking to be better than there first, i hope they do good jan. is going to be a tough month to put on a show with a free ufc and bj vs gsp to go against, i will buy it but i don't know about the rest of mma fans.

  5. Is this still at the Honda Center? If so i might get tickets…i would enjoy seeing another MMA promotion and watching Fedor for the first real time would be nice even though i am not sold on him as the Best fighter he is however one of the best..Roy has opened my eyes a bit….

  6. if you can go tim do it, i don't think you would be disappointed.

  7. I will check it out…Thanks i want to see if my dad can get tickets as he knows the mayor of Anaheim and the city council members and we may be able to use their Suite for the fight…that would be cool…it may not happen as i am sure others have already asked them but who knows. Yes i am cheap…but if there not to pricy i might buy them.

  8. i would like to go but i am not spending 300+ for a tickect and i don't know if its worth getting the cheap seats.the best seats last time where 1000 and good seats where around 250 to 450 and thats just to much for me.but who knows i really want to go so i might shell out some money or just get the cheap seats i will let you know.

  9. Well i will check on my end as well and see…i may not be here now that i think of it as i am waiting for a school date from the National Guard so they can send me to another school more training got to love it this one is 9 wks in length and can go at any time.

  10. Thats why i have yet to go to a live UFC fight…its just to damn expensive and plus to me the best seat is right at home but i would like to experience a live event at least once.

  11. yeah for the cost you can throw a great party at home, but i would love to watch affliction or ufc live. i have been to samller shows where good seats where 50 to 100 and it was great being there live.

  12. Exactly like this Saturday we are having a little party with a few friends over at my sister in laws house and shit its only going to cost us like 90 for the fight, pizza and beer…but it would be nice to get the full experience.

  13. Have they released the card for this? I don't remember.

  14. I was at the live ufc event in houston when sera upset gsp. it was cool. I had pretty good seats but to be honest i found myself watching the big screen the whole time bacuse it's difficult to see in the cage unless you are cage side. after the show i told my buddy that it was cool but it would have been just as cool to get the ppv at home and watch it on our big screen with our friends and a bunch of beer and food. It was cool to see the ring girls live though. If i'm gonna watch fights on a screen i might as well be on my couch.

  15. I agree with T.R. it's cool to say that you've been to an event but if you are really interested in seeing all the action. Then watching at home gives you the best viewpoint.

Although everytime they've been in Ohio I've went to watch. UFC 68, 77 and 82. I'm still considering going to 96 that is going to be held in Columbus.
