Quinton Rampage Jackson Defends His Actions As Coach On TUF 10

Going 0-5 as coach of the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter, Quinton Rampage Jackson wants you to know that he’s not a jack ass like the show leads you to believe.

The only reason I’m blogging this is that I want everyone to know what’s really up … The show is for entertainment and it could be edited in many different ways, which doesn’t always tell the true story … My team and I had great chemistry and we got along great. Rashad and his team didn’t even like each other … Rashad acts so fake and cocky and he wants to act like he cares more about my fighter than I do and brag about how he’s a better coach than I am. But I tried to explain to him that I’m not a coach and I won’t be coaching after my fighting career, like he might … Rashad thought the show was about him, about how good of a coach he could be and how fake he could be … But I knew what it was all about. The show is called the Ultimate Fighter, not the Ultimate Coach.” [Rampage]

Editing or not he should be out their with this team, not in the back complaining with Tiki. Rashad should be cocky, he is looking like a dream coach with the record to prove it.

Their is not much Rampage can do about his picks now except cross his finger and hope he doesn’t get sweeped as a coach on TUF 10.

  1. Rusty Kuntz says:

Rashad maybe cocky and arrogant, but there is no doubt that he is there for his fighters and he cares. Rampage will insist that the only reason Rashad works hard at coaching is to take up the spotlight. Yet, if anything it is Rampage who has shown that he cares about nothing but himself. For the second time he is an awful coach, even worse than before. He could care less about his team or the show, what he wanted was a shot at the title and that's the only reason he is there. So when it comes to being selfish, Rampage wins hands down.

  2. So he is a bad coach who cares Rampage will knock out Rashad in a fight. So go ahead be the better coach he will still get knockout.

  3. The show actually IS about the coaches as well as the fighters, and how they gel as a team. That's why they get celebrity coaches and make them fight at the end of the season.

Rampage can say what he wants about "being a fighter" but he's a coach on the show. Do your job and coach. Rashad was right when he told Rampage (and there's no editing of this part) "You have all this experience, give them some of that, give them some of you."

This season is a big tease, anyways, because we know after all is said and done they don't fight, and Rampage ran from the UFC like a little baby, because Dana didn't like him skipping out on work for his side-gig.

Imagine you did that to your boss? Can you blame Dana? Try not showing up for work because you have a second job that's emotionally important to you, and see how quickly you get fired when you don't come back on time.

  4. To clarify the last sentence, yes, Dana did not fire Rampage, but he was pissed and made fun of Rampage's movie. Then Rampage left crying like a little baby.

  5. the best part is they likely will never fight so screw it who cares at this point they sound like a couple junior high girls fighting on the telephone

  6. dane drebin says:

dana is a very convincing person and rampage isnt the brightest crayon in the box. i think rashad looking like gold on the show and still talkin trash along with dana smoothing things over will make rampage come back to try and shut rashad up. i predict rampage will be back by the end of the year or early 2010 to fgiht rashad and i think that fight could go either way.

  7. i hear ya Dane i dont see Ramp being done forever either

  8. King kong. says:

i think we all know Rampage sucks as a coach (i mean look at his first 2 fight choices and the last time he coached)

i will however defend Rampage for not getting in the ring afterwards, hes not a trained coach for a start. also Rampage HATES losing…. and he has done it 5 times in a row!

i hope Rampage comes back and hits Rashad so hard he sees stars for weeks.

  9. Rampage was, for along time my favorite fighter to follow, in and out of the ring. With each episode I watch, I feel more and more sorry for him. I never realized how much childish behavior he exhibits on a day to day basis.

I know that what we see on TUF is what they (the UFC Brass) want us to see. But the one on one's with Rampage have made him look like a babbling buffoon. That stuff is not edited.

So far, this season has been mediocre at best. If the "Cash Cow" doesn't get back in the ring soon, this season will be a complet bust!

  10. Shogun of Harlem says:

i dont like Rashad at all, but i think it is big of him when he comes in the ring to check on rampage jackson's team member after they lose.

This show is really making rampage look real bad. He is looking really bad by not showing support for his fighters after they lose.

  11. Like RAMPAGE said stuff gets edited how the ufc wants it to get edited. If rampage isnt fighting in the ufc anymore and rashad is why would they make rampage look like the bad coach? I cant say one way or another about the situation b/c I really dont know what went down or how it went down. If I was rampage and my guys kept losing I wouldnt be all that happy about it either. Especially if it was against my enemy who was bragging about winning. Rampage is not a coach as he said and if he is a bad one then who gives a shit. Dana didnt put Rampage on the show to have him imporve the fighters. It was suppose to setup a FIGHT between him and rashad and get more people to buy into the whole shit talk and pick a side that would get you to buy the PPV. Who gives a shit if he dont care about the fighters who lose. He is never going to deal with them again after the show get over it.

  12. why would they make rashad* look like the bad coach.

  13. dane drebin says:

i HIGHLY doubt that they edited the show to make rampage look like a fool for few reasons

    1. Rampage is one of the most popular fighters the ufc has and that would be bad for the ufc

    2. The show was edited and put on to tv before rampage "retired"

    3. You cant no matter how much editing you do you couldnt make rampage look like this big of a tool

    4. no matter how much editing u do it wouldnjt change rampage from not checking if his fighters are ok and them being 0-5

the fact is rampage got out classed he braught in tiki and a nobody ufc reject like hector ramirez as his coaches while rashad braught in motherfuckin Greg Jackson. rampage is an awesome fighter but hes a horrible coach just look at the forrest season he lost then too. rampage is lazy and has stated many times he has to have coaches to push him and rashad is different. theres no comparison really he lost before the show even started.

  14. King kong. says:

    dane.

    1. most popular…. Dana knows he won't be back. if he does come back people are easy to win over again. (wandy right? Dana slags him off, then pumps him up for a fight with Chuck.)

    2. its one show a week, it can easily be edited AGAIN to change the way it looks.

    3. that makes no sense, you contradict yourself. you say no editing can make him look like a tool, yet you say there is no editing done?

    4. meh who knows. it is a program after all, fighters could be acting.

  15. Joe Smith says:

Kong, seriously, this whole season is already "scripted." That doesn't mean that what happened is scripted, but there's an arc that reality shows use to tell a story. For example, they keep having Kimbo hint that he's going to come back, so he's going to come back. If he didn't, then they would cut out all the "I'm coming back" talk, because it would never come true.

And, yes, you CAN re-edit a show if you really have to in a week's time, but trust me…i promise you I work in this field…it's not something you want to keep doing every week. The show already has each episode written out, they need to edit, get the v/o, subtitles, master the sound, mix it, dub the master for broadcast, and make all the promo spots which hint at the story and help build the suspense. There's no way in hell they're going to keep flying by the seat of their pants and re-edit every show depending on how Rampage acts now in "real life."

I bet, from watching the show thus far, and seeing their set-ups from show to show:

    - Marcus wins his fight

    - Zak loses his fight

    - Kimbo comes back to fight again

  16. Steve and Kong, you are forgetting that shows were taped and edited BEFORE Rampage decided to leave the UFC.

And as to Kong's comment that Rampage is not a trained coach – NONE of the TUF coaches are. As a matter of fact, what coach in the world is? Do they go to coaches school to learn how to act? No, it's common sense and decency. Going into the ring after the fight has nothing to do with training, it's respect and caring. You don't need training for that.
