UFC News: Hermes Franca A Free Agent

hermes franca

According to a post on the Underground Forums, UFC lightweight contender Hermes Franca officially announced that he has asked and was released from his contract by the UFC. Franca who is serving a one year suspension for steroids, after coming clean with fans and admitting to taking steroids prior to his fight with Sean Sherk at UFC 73.

Sean Sherk also tested positive for steroids, but fought the charges with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). The CSAC upheld the ruling but let Sherk off with a reduced six month sentence. Sherk was striped of his title by the UFC, but was given a automatic match with BJ Penn who won Sherks vacant title by beating Joe Stevenson at UFC 80.

Now that he is a free agent, Id like to see him avenge this two losses to Yves Edwards or possibly fight Nick Diaz on EliteXC.
