Both parties have agreed to the match-up, though financial considerations are still being ironed out. The fight is being considered at a 165-pound weight limit.
Once considered a top lightweight, Gomi has slid as of late, dropping two fights in Sengoku to Sergey Golyaev (Split Decision) and another to Satoru Kitaoka (Submission).
If this fight make’s it will be only the second time Gomi has fought on American soil, the first being his loss (Was later overturned to NC by the NSAC after Diaz tested positive for pot) to Strikeforce fighter Nick Diaz at PRIDE 33 “Second Coming”.
NOT, according to MMAFanhouse,
Affliction Entertainment VP, Tom Atencio, told FanHouse on Thursday that after brief consideration, the fight is not happening.
Atencio said that Gomi, who usually fights at 155 pounds, does not want to fight at a higher weight class.
