With this news also came the announcement that former two time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (24-4) has signed on to the promotion for a six fight non-exclusive contract, that will allow him to fight in other promotions.

Tim Sylvia:

“I’ll be real active, fighting six or seven times a year….Adrenaline is a new company that’s just starting up, but they’re allowing fighters to fight outside of their organization. That’s huge… Take for instance my last fight. Granted, I loss, but I came out of there unhurt and unscathed. I could have fought a week or two later.”

“Being 32 years old, I have four or five good years ahead of me. I plan to make the most of it.”

“There’s a guy out there named Fedor who I’d like to fight, and I think the only way that’s gonna happen is by me leaving the UFC.”

Also announced by Cox, former IFL heavyweight “Big” Ben Rothwell (29-5) has also signed with the promotion. Rothwell dominated the IFL heavyweight division, but event with 34 professional fights on his record, he has yet to fight any top quality fighters in his career.

Cox announced his intent for Adrenaline MMA to have its debut show June 14 at the Sears Center in Chicago, Illinois.

  • Top level welterweight and current DREAM lightweight grand prix fighter, Eddie Alverez has also signed on to the promotion.
  • Jeff Monson vs. Pride veteran Mike Russow is stated for the debut show on June 14.

Cox and M-1 Global Split Ways, Fedor’s Officially A Free Agent

According to former M-1 Global CEO Monty Cox in a recent interview Sherdog,

“The group that formed M-1 Global is still together and we’re going to remain together and put on an MMA event….It won’t be under the name M-1 Global because that is definitely associated with Emelianenko Fedor and the Russians, and we’ve come to an agreement that we’re going to part ways.”

“We have different philosophies….It’s just the way that it is. For me, I’m not as concerned about all the glitz and the glamour of the show; I just want to have good fights and I want to make money. That was my goal.”

“We spent well into six-figures of attorney fees trying to get the contract written, let alone signed….In the end, we could have went ahead and signed the contract and went off with Fedor, but I don’t think we would have been successful.”

“I am looking at June 14 to do our first show in Chicago….This will be a show, well, bigger than I am used to doing, somewhere along the lines of an [EliteXC] show or a WEC with a bigger headliner….It won’t be the UFC…..We don’t have that kind of money to throw away. Now, without Fedor, I expect the show in Chicago to turn a profit.”
