More Updates on UFC on Fox 8 Fighters

UFC on Fox 8 will be a flyweight main event as Demetrious Johnson defends his title against John Moraga. This much-awaited event will be on July 27, 2013 at the Keyarena, Seattle, Washington, United States.

Fans just could not wait for these two flyweights to fight since these two are known to have one of the toughest records to beat. Demetrious “Mighty MouseJohnson has 17 wins, 2 losses and only 1 draw. This superb fighter from Kirkland, Washington, USA is raring to fight after his main event victory over John Dodson at UFC on Fox 6 where he won via unanimous decision. Before this win he was able to beat Joseph Benavidez via split decision at the memorable UFC 152 and Ian McCall through unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 3 main event. Johnson is one of the fighters who were able to maintain a close to perfect winning record from the start of his professional career. From the time he first fought at AXFC, USA MMA and GF he held a 10-win streak until he lost to Brad Pickett at WEC 48 –Aldo versus Faber via unanimous decision.

John Moraga on the other hand is a fighter from Phoenix, Arizona. He is just 19 years of age but he holds a superb 13 win and 1 loss record. Although his last win was five months ago against Chris Cariaso at the UFC 155 – Dos Santos versus Velasquez via submission guillotine choke in just 1 minute and 11 seconds of round 1. This victory was among a series of 7 consecutive wins from July 2010. Moraga has remained undefeated from 2010 and has been victorious over great fighters like Nathaniel Baker, Freddie Lux, Matthew Garcia, Ulysses Gomes (defeated via KO) and Jose Carbajal to name a few. His only defeat came from John Dodson at the Nemesis Fighting- MMA Global Invasion in December 2010 via unanimous decision.

Aside from the Johnson versus Moraga main event, fans will surely delight as their female favorites will also be a part of the show. It will be a showdown between Miesha “Cupcake” Tate and Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche. Carmouche is fresh from her terrible defeat against Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey at UFC 157 main event where Rousey once again won via her signature arm bar move. Carmouche submitted in just 4 minutes and 49 seconds of round 1.

The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale: Cat Zingano TKO’s Miesha Tate

Kevin and George from the Uncut Sports Show break down all of the fights from this weekend’s Ultimate Fighter Season 17 Finale, including the fight of the night between Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate.

If people didn’t know who Cat Zingano was before Saturday, they do now. Or they will very soon. Zingano (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) stopped Miesha Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with a third-round TKO victory, surviving a couple rough rounds with the former Strikeforce champion to rally for the win. Zingano was impressive and should be an interesting candidate to potentially challenge Ronda Rousey at the top of female MMA.

Rousey Says She Could Fight Santos at 145 lbs

Champion Ronda Rousey says that she could fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos at 145 pounds however she says that she does not need to do so. When interviewed by Sherdog Radio Network’s “It’s Time” Show with Bruce Buffer, Rousey says that Santos does not really have other options available besides her. “I think she’s a victim of her own cheating, whereas when she was doped up and she looked like she was so head – over- heels above all these girls, it made the women’s division look bad. Then she cleaned out her own division because of that.” Rousey further added: “Now she’s having to deal with the consequences of it. No one’s going to want to fight a cheater. I’m pretty much her only option and I’m chock full of options.”

Cristiane Santos has never fought since she failed a steroid test last year; she is ending a year’s suspension. Cyborg was also stripped of her 145 – pound title at Strikeforce. On the other hand, Rousey has risen to fame with a perfect fight card of 6 wins and no losses. She has defeated impressive female fighters like Charmaine Tweet, Sarah D’Alelio, Julia Budd, Miesha Tate and Ediene Gomes. Her most recent win was against Sarah Kaufman in a headliner at fight last August 18, 2012. “Rowdy” is famous for her trademark submission arm bar move that can tackle down any opponent under a minute of round one. She is Strikeforce’s 135 –pound champion and has challenged Santos to cut some weight and face her however the later responded by inviting Rousey to move up to 145 pounds for a match up.

Rousey admits that she had no problems before when she fought at 145 – pounds before. “I could, but I’m choosing not to because honestly. I don’t trust any of the drug testing. I’ve been doing this a very, very long time and I was in the Olympics with the most stringent drug testing in the world. You know a lot of those people are doping. There’s new advances in drug testing every single year because people find new ways to cheat.” She also added: “The only way I can really feel like it would be a fair fight is if it’s down at 135. If she’s doped to the gills and making 145, it’s not really that farfetched for me to think that someone not on steroids could move down a division.”

Rousey somewhat sees that a fight at 135 would give Cyborg a chance to redeem herself and is waiting for the latter’s acceptance any day.
