WEC 44 Video: Manny Gamburyan Predicting Fight Of The Night Win Over Leonard Garcia

Former TUF contestant and UFC fighter Manny Gamburyan is re-focused now that he dropped down to featherweight. Manny talks about his quest for the title and how a win over Leonard Garcia at WEC 44 might just get him a shot.

Manny Gamburyan Off To The WEC Featherweight Division

TUF Finalist Manny “Anvil” Gamburyan will drop down to the World Extreme Cagefighting’s (WEC) featherweight division, according to MMAWeekly.

Gamburyan loss his last two fights in the UFC – First to Rob Emerson via 12 sec flash KO at UFC 87 and most recently to Thiago Tavares at UFC 94.

“I don’t know if the cut is going to be hard or easy — I haven’t made 145 in almost 10 years — but I’m going to do it in a good way”

“There are a lot of good guys at 145 also … Mike Brown, Leonard Garcia, Urijah Faber, Jens Pulver. But I think my ability to drop to 145 — I’m going to be a lot stronger, and quicker. At 155, my technique is my advantage, because the day I’m fighting, I’m 160, 162. The guys are outweighing me by at least 20 pounds every fight, so I don’t think that’s fair.”

“I’ve never been this excited in my life,”

No exact date has been set for his WEC debut, but he expects to fight sometime in May or June depending on the WEC schedule.

UFC 87 Review and Commentary

GSP Dominates

Jon Fitch was a game opponent, but ultimately, he was outclassed. Before the match, a very humble, but nonetheless confident, GSP proclaimed that he was superior to Fitch in all facets of the fight game. After last night’s bout, he proved the validity of that statement.

As always, GSP relied heavily on his wrestling. Like so many other opponents, Fitch was taken down almost at will. On his feet, GSP looked sharper than he has in a long time. His jabs were crisp and he set up his overhand right again and again. Analysts would be hard pressed to find any chinks in his armor.

The fact that GSP couldn’t finish Fitch is a testament to Jon’s enormous heart. Fitch was rocked and dropped several times and consistently took a beating throughout the fight. But, he never quit and never stopped moving forward. Although Fitch displayed true spirit, GSP was never in any real trouble at any point during the course of the 25-minute fight. There is no question that GSP can fluidly translate all variations of martial arts into one all encompassing fighter better then anybody else in the game.
