UFC 135: Diego Sanchez Out With Injury, Josh Koscheck In Against Hughes

UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez announced he is forced to pull out of UFC 135 co-main event fight with UFC legend Matt Hughes due to a broken hand he suffered while training.

It didn’t take the UFC long to find a replacement, Josh Koscheck who has been sidelined 9 months with a broken orbital bone after losing to GSP at UFC 124 was primed to take the fight on short notice. Koscheck tweets:

“:) Got a fight in 21 days b*tches. … Oh ya 19 days then or something like that!!!! Either way it looks like I am in to fight matt Hugh if he takes it????”

Meanwhile Diego is heartbroken after losing a chance to fight his idol.

“I am heartbroken that I have to inform MMA fans that I cannot fight Matt Hughes at UFC 135 later this month. I have never physically felt more prepared to compete than I felt for this fight, which makes this even more painful for me. While I do not know right now when I will return, I want to assure all of the fans out there that I will be back in the Octagon as soon as I am 100-percent healthy.”

UFC 135 “Jones vs. Rampage” takes place on September 24th at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Koscheck Looking For Fall Return, Fight At 185 Possible

It’s been a long recovery since breaking his orbital bone during a title fight with Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 last December. Josh Koscheck is ready to see some action, but this time it could be a middleweight.

“I did ask for my next fight to be nov 19 in san jose at 185 :) RT @dethrone @joshkoscheck who you asking to fight next? My manager @DeWayneZinkin knows who I called out at 185 follow him & ask him who it is…maybe he will tell you. Lol”

“FYI I only want 1 fight at 185 then back to WW. :) just something real fun for the fans.”
