It will be a rumble on Sweden as Alexander Gustafsson fights Gegard Mousasi at UFC on Fuel TV 9. This is a five-round special martial arts contest which is a first in Sweden’s history. This fight was confirmed by the press as the Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation admitted the event last Friday after a report from MMAnytt.se. The SMMAF has requested and received special permission coming from the Martial Arts Delegation at the County Board of Orebro to sanction this 25 minute event.

This latest UFC event will take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, which will also feature a fight between Brad Pickett and Mike Easton which is a much awaited bantamweight fight. UFC on Fuel TV 9 will be on April 6, 2013 and this marks the second time that the company has hosted an MMA event in Sweden. The initial MMA offering was 10 months ago at UFC on Fuel TV 2 which also featured Gustafsson as he won over Thiago Silva in a three round headliner event.

Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson is a 26 year old light heavyweight from Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden which has an impressive 15 win and only 1 loss professional MMA record. If he wins over Mousasi on April 6, this will be his 7th consecutive win. His last fight was a unanimous decision win over Mauricio Rua at UFC on Fox 5 Henderson versus Diaz in December 2012 and before this win was his epic victory over Thiago Silva via unanimous decision at UFC on Fuel TV 2 in a headline fight. His only loss was in the hands of Phil Davis at UFC 112- Invincible in April 2012 via submission, Davis leashed out an anaconda choke that ended the fight in just 4 minutes and 55 seconds of round 1.

His opponent on the other hand is Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi, a 27 light heavy weight fighter from Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands. He has a record of 33 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws. Mousasi is a formidable fighter and this was proven in his recent win over Mike Kyle in Strikeforce – Marquardt versus Saffiedine in January 2012 via submission in just 4 minutes, 9 seconds of round 1. UFC on Fuel TV 9 will be a much-awaited event for Swedish fans and fans of MMA all over the world!
