It’s St. Pierre versus Condit at UFC 154

Georges St. Pierre returns to the Octagon once more after an 18-month long absence. He is training as we speak for UFC 154 on Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal and this time he battles Carlos Condit, interim welterweight champion.

There are many speculations regarding “Rush” return to the Octagon. Will he be able to maintain his previous fighting form after suffering from a torn knee ligament? Will Condit overpower him as a new and improved division has passed him by? So many fans think that this is the moment that St. Pierre has been waiting for; it’s time to reclaim his place as a top 170- pounder in the world. If he ever wins this challenge, he is rest assured of willing challengers that would want a taste of his victory.

Georges “Rush” St. Pierre is a 31 year old welterweight fighter from St. Isidore, Quebec, Canada. He has a fantastic record of 22 wins and only 2 losses in his professional MMA career. His last fight and his last win were in April 2011 at UFC 129, a main even fight against Jake Shields where he won via unanimous decision. This win was his ninth consecutive after a loss to Matt Sera in April 2007 at the UFC 69 Shootout. He has defeated excellent fighters like Josh Koscheck, Dan Hardy, B.J. Penn, Thiago Alves and Matt Serra to name a few.

Carlos “Natural Born Killer” Condit on the other hand is a 28 year old welterweight fighter from Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. He has 28 wins and only 5 losses in his card and his last fight was a win against Nick Diaz at the UFC 143 main event via unanimous decision. This was his fifth consecutive win after his defeat against Martin Kampmann at the UFC – Fight Night 18 in April 2009 via split decision.

UFC 154 is also a showdown between two welterweight fighters Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann. Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks is a welterweight from Ada, Oklahoma, United States. He has 13 wins and only 1 loss in his card. His latest win and his latest fight was way back May 2012 in UFC on Fox 3 against Josh Koscheck via split decision.

Martin “Hitman” Kampmann on the other hand is a 30 year old welterweight from Aarus, Denmark. He has 20 wins and only 5 losses in his career. His last fight was a win against Jake Ellenberger at UFC the Ultimate Fighter Finale in June 2012.
