MMA Coach of the Year Rafael Cordeiro Launches MMA Tutorial Project

Want to learn killer techniques from Rafael Cordeiro, the same master who’s mentored superstars Anderson Silva, Shogun Rua, and Wanderlei Silva to MMA superstardom? Now you’ll get a shot at the opportunity.

In what appears to be a first among the UFC’s elite, Cordeiro has launched today (May 1) an online campaign on Kickstarter.com for his autobiography and MMA tutorial. Rather than sign the usual book deal with a traditional publishing house, Cordeiro has taken matters into his own hands — or rather pass them into the hands of his fans.

Should fans pledge at least $30,000, he will produce both softcover and hardcover versions of his book, which will reveal his championship-winning strategies and techniques, as well as his amazing rags-to-riches life story. And, depending on their individual contributions, fans could also receive autographed swag like posters and T-shirts, exclusive video interviews with Cordeiro and his students, and even a private training session with the master and his top UFC pupils.

His book — tentatively called The Kings MMA Way — promises to divulge tactics for beating strikers, grapplers, and wrestlers. There will be plenty of photos, as well as tips on how to develop a fighter’s mindset, maintain proper nutrition and exercise, and balance your life while trying to enter the MMA business.

A former Muay Thai champion and BJJ black belt with the world-famous Chute Boxe, Cordeiro founded Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, California, where he’s taught everyone from former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano and TUF’s Jamie Yager to top contenders Jake Ellenberger and Mark Munoz. It’s no surprise then that he was named the Shawn Tompkins Coach of the Year at the World MMA Awards ceremony held in January.

Michael Bisping Will Use Belfort as Warm-up for Anderson Silva Match

Michael Bisping is looking at this Saturday’s match-up with Vitor Belfort as a “warm up” match for his fight with Anderson Silva in the coming months. Bisping will meet Belfort this Saturday night at UFC on FX 7 at Geraldo Jose De Almeida State Gymnasium in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Bisping is very confident that no matter how Belfort is prepared for this match he is more confident on his ability to overcome his opponent. He mentions plans on wearing the fighter down and when he is tire enough this will be his chance to finish the match. If Bisping comes out as a victor in this match, he will receive his chance to fight Anderson Silva, a fighter that everyone is too chicken to fight!

When he was interviewed by ESPN, Bisping remarked about his match this Saturday by saying: “The good thing is Vitor Belfort is the perfect warm-up for Anderson Silva, He’s southpaw, Anderson’s southpaw and they’re both incredible strikers.” He added: “My skills against a southpaw have definitely improved a lot in this training camp. At the start of the camp I was struggling because things do change due to the stance. But now I’m over those problems.” In a final word to interviewers: “Fingers crossed I get the business done, and then I’ve had the perfect tune-up for Anderson Silva.”

Michael “The Count” Bisping is a middleweight from Manchester, England. He has an impressive professional MMA record of 23 wins and only 4 losses. His last action on the Octagon is a win over Brian Stann at UFC 152 – Jones versus Belfort in September 2012 via unanimous decision. Before this win however, “The Count” lost to Chael Sonnen via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 2 –Evans versus Davis in January 2012. Bisping is one of a few MMA fighters who started without a single loss. He enjoyed a 15 consecutive winning streak since he became a pro in 2004.

Vitor Belfort on the other hand is a middleweight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He enjoys a 21 win and 10 loss professional career. His last fight was a loss over Jon Jones in a headline fight at UFC 152 in September 2012. Before this he had 2 consecutive wins over Anthony Johnson and Yoshihiro Akiyama in UFC 142 and UFC 133 respectively. He lost to Anderson Silva in UFC 126 in a headline fight after Silva KO’d him in just less than 4 minutes of round 1.

Anderson Silva versus St. Pierre Matchup Soon?

Probably the two most controversial pound-for-pound MMA fighters will fight each other the next time they meet at the Octagon. And then, maybe they won’t be. Fans are already speculating an Anderson Silva versus Georges St. Pierre matchup soon as St. Pierre recently punished Carlos Condit at UFC 154 at the Bell Centre in Montreal in November 17.

But on the bright side, MMA fans are hoping that UFC president Dana White would consider the match between these two impressive fighters and their prayers were answered. White actually wants the event to happen and he is chancing on a date in May or around May next year.

White was interviewed by Fox Sports and he mentions: “It’s the No.1 best pound-for-pound fighter in the world against the No. 2 best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. It’s a big fight. We think people want to see it and we think the guys want to do it, so we’ll do it. They will fight, and it will probably be in May or around May.”

So let’s review Silva and St. Pierre’s stats before anything else:

Georges “Rush” St. Pierre is a 31 year old from St. Isidore, Quebec, Canada. He is a welterweight with 23 wins and 2 losses in his professional MMA career. Rush’s win against Carlos Condit was a revival after his last fight in April 2011 when he won against Jake Shields via unanimous decision. His recent fight was his 10th consecutive win since August 2007. He only tasted defeat twice in the hands of Matt Serra in UFC 69 Shootout in 2007 and against Matt Hughes in UFC The War of ’04 in October 2004.

Anderson “The Spider” Silva on the other hand is a 37 year old middleweight fighter from Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. He has 33 wins and 4 losses in his career. His last win was against Stephan Bonnar in a headline fight at UFC 153 via TKO. This was his 17 consecutive win since his loss to Yushin Okami at Rumble on the Rock 8 in January 2006. He is one of the most respected MMA fighters in the business and fans all over the world will surely look forward to this ultimate fight.

Let’s hope Dana White fulfils his promise. This Anderson Silva versus Georges St. Pierre matchup will surely be a delight to all MMA fans everywhere!
