UFC 101: Thales Leites vs Alessio Sakara

Looking to come back after his disappointing performance at UFC 97, Thales Leites will replace the injured Rousimar Palhares against Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 in Philadelphia, according to InTheGuard.

“What is most important is getting back to fighting as soon as possible …. I know that I didn’t fight well, that things didn’t go as I wanted against Anderson Silva, so nothing is better than starting again.”

“I only face a guy with Grappling as my main weapon … I know that the expectations will be enormous, because now I need to show that I deserve another shot at the title. But this is good, it will give more motivation.”

Palhares broke his leg in training and is not expected to compete again until the end of the year.

UFC 101: Rousimar Palhares Out Against Alessio Sakara With Broken Leg

Rousimar Palhares (9-2) has had to withdraw from his UFC 101 bout with Alessio Sakara, due to a broken leg suffered while training. He underwent surgery on Thursday night, according to intheguard.tv.

Their is no word if Sakara will remain on the card.

Palhares trainer Murilo Bustamante had this to say:

“Probably, he will be fighting again before the end of 2009 …. But right now, I can tell that Sakara is the luckiest man in the world. Rousimar won’t fight in August 8 for sure.” [MMAWeekly]
