I agree that he doesn’t seem to have that much hear. He quits in the cage. I don’t see why he wants to move up since he won’t be able to compete on the feet against tall fighters like Sonnen. He looked out of shape which is why he didnt make weight. If he is going to get his career back on track being in the US is a good move for him.

i realy don’t think 170 is impossible once again look at alves and his weight, but mostly i was refering to him saying he is going to lhw i think if anything he should go down weight where he could compete rather than go up weight where he will get killed in the ufc, not that he should change weight at all.

zalbag- thanks i wasnt sure if he trained with him or not. i agree with u shields is an asshole and is going to be in for a rude awakening if he signs with the ufc. he is a big fish in a little pond and will get swallowed by the sharks. that being said even tho i dont liek the guy i could see him definetly being top ten if he gets his striking a little better.

onri- not everyone has a showstopping performance ever fight. like sonnen said it was like dancing with a dance partner who wouldnt dance. filho was on the defensive the entire fight and i think sonnen was being carefull so he didnt get caught witha wild shot or quick sub. fact is thats the biggest win of sonnens career and he snagged it and held on to it

Fought like a lil bitch? why b/c he didnt go into Filhos guard and risk getting submitted? Filho beat him like that last time. He wanted to play it safe since filho kept flopping to his guard after every exchange. Sure Sonnen should have been more aggresive but not on the ground. He should have tried to KO him but hell what if Filho swept him while Sonnen swung for the fences? Think about it. The fight was boring cuz filho came in unprepared. Also about his height let me remind u roy that Jeff Monson is 5″8 240 and like filho he cant make the lower weight. 170 would be imposible for him. 185 is fine but like BJ he dont want to get his cardio up and cut that much weight thats why he is planning on fighting at 205. Okay if Faber fought Brown again do u think hewould do that crazy shit again? NO b/c it didnt work the fiorst time and just like sonnen he didnt want to make the same mistake this was a grudge match he felt he shoyuld have won the last fight and he couldnt afford to lose another fight and go down 2-0 to filho in wins.Thats the way I see it.

Sonnon fought like a little bitch trying to point his way to a win. Anyone who saw it wouldn’t want to watch any of them fight again. Fuck at least Faber put it on the line when he lost. And he fessed up to his mistakes instead of asking for a rematch.

Shields trains at SF Fairtex and Ceasar Gracies…Shields comes down to AKA in San Jose to train with there(jon fitch) camp a couple days a week before big fights. but they do not exclusively train together the AKA mini camp is like the camp that NFL players who played at MIAMI all go to in the offseason. Honestly Dane I just really cant stand Jake Shields I find him to be pompous, and I really think he is great on the ground but i do not think his stand up will hold up at all in a UFC ww class that is very very strong in stand up.

it doesnt only matter how tall u are it’s ur overall body structure. just because u are short doesnt mean u are skinny. u could be way stocky and thick no matter what u do unless u want to lose all of ur muscle. 185 is where filho belongs. he was a monster in pride and not too long ago. he obviously has a lot of demons he needs to overcome. i called him a disgrace on this site yesterday but i shouldnt have and its not right to judge. i was very angry when he didnt make weight but now i only wish him the best. the 185 weight class and his body didnt change. he can make the weight and its the perfect weight for him. its his mind that has changed and i hope even if he never fights again that he can get his life back on track and fix whatever is wrong with him. none of us know whats going on in his life its his first loss and a lot of people are being pretty critical of his first loss. ya it was a pathetic boring loss but we dont know whats going on. dont be so quick to judge ur not wearing his shoes or understand the possible depression/drug issues he’s going through.
