Paul Daley To Defend Title At Cage Rage 26

By CagE | March 19, 2008

According to the FightNetwork, Cage Rage Welterweight champion Paul Daley (17-6-2) will honor his Pro Elite contract by defending his title at Cage Rage 26 on May 10 from the NEC Arena in Birmingham, England.

“I’ll be defending my world title belt on May10 at Cage Rage,” Daley said. “No opponent has been confirmed yet.”

Daley age 24, surprised the world when he announced his retirement from mixed martial arts, following his impressive victory at the ShoXC event on January 25.

It looks like Pro Elite has elected to have Daley defend his Cage Rage title instead of fighting on the co-promoted EliteXC-Strikeforce card, in which he was scheduled.

“America has the biggest market right now,” Daley said. “The fans and promoters treat me well. In Cage Rage, it’s different; egos get in the way. But it’s work, and you don’t always get [along] with your boss all the time.”

I really hope he doesn’t retire after this fight. He’s only 24 and the guy is so explosive with his hands. I really don’t think this is the last of him, I think he is trying to finish his contract so he can sign with the UFC.

It would be a big waste of talent if he does retire because he is a good fighter. I think he could be a great addition to the WW class in the UFC.

I’d like to see him fight Luke Cummo or Swick
