Nick Diaz’s Fight at DREAM 3 Scratched

By CagE | May 6, 2008

Josh Gross of SportsIllustrated is reporting that Gary Shaw has pulled the plug on Nick Diaz’s appearance at Dream 3.

According to Shaw, a stipulation in Nick Diaz’s contract, give EliteXC the power to pull the plug on any fight that coincides with a scheduled EliteXC show. Being only 33 days before Diaz is scheduled to fight on the June 14 EliteXC Hawaii card is just to close for comfort.

EliteXC President, Gary Shaw:

With Shaw, apparently, unaware as little as two days ago of an upcoming bout for the 24-year-old Diaz that conflicted with next month’s EliteXC, members of both promotional camps spoke Monday to find a suitable conclusion.

Diaz’s manager, Cesar Gracie:

“We put these two organizations in contact with each other,” he said. “They were supposed to figure it out but there was some miscommunication somewhere.”
