Nick Diaz vs Jason Mayhem Miller Fight Dead Due To Weight

We will just have to wait for Nick Diaz and Mayhem to settle their grudge that blew up when the two threw punches inside the cage, live on CBS.

According to Nick Diaz’s fight camp, negotiation with Jason Mayhem Miller were unsuccessful due to the unwillingness of Miller to fight at a catchweight of 178 and are asking Strikeforce to find another opponent for the January fightcard.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller has opted to not take a fight with Nick Diaz in January at a catchweight of 178lbs.

Despite having previously fought at the 170lbs weight limit, Miller now says that he is unwilling to meet at 178 and instead wants Strikeforce’s Welterweight Champion to move up to middleweight to fight him. [Gracie Fighter]

Miller, who has fought as low as 170 lbs. in the UFC, recently talked to Joe Rogan about the negative impact that cut had on his performance and his unwillingness to fight below 183 lbs.

“He’s scared homie” [Joe Rogan Podcast]

On a side note, to mock the famous saying of Nick Diaz, Mayhem has registered the domain as his official website.

  1. Mayhem/Diaz fight will happen, though boys have been fighting 4 a long time!! 1 of them will get bored or need money HA

  2. I guess if I considered myself one of the best in the world and I wanted to beat someone up Id fight them at whatever weight they wanted. Your a champ diaz act like it and back your mouth up at 185

  3. Van Vader says:

I cannot stand either of these brats, but I'd like to see the fight. I think a Catch Weight is a fair decision.

  4. Steveo – The same could be said for Miller too…why can't he fight at the catch weight? If anything, Diaz is being reasonable by asking for the catch weight. He is not asking Miller to come down to 170. The fairest way to do this, would be to agree to the catch weight. Miller is the one looking scared.

  5. i agree with omega.. diaz is the champ at 170 and there should be no reason he should even have to fight mayhem unless mayhem came down to 170… i think its only fair to meet at a catchweight… why should one person have to lose or gain 15 pounds to meet the other's weight class… it sounds to me like mayhem is the one scared… i think diaz would hoe him out no matter what weight class they are in…

  6. other derek says:

The facts from his stupid website if they are true?

    * Nick Diaz and others jumped Mayhem in the cage after he requested a rematch with Jake Shields

    * Nick Diaz fought twice last year at 183 lbs

    * Mayhem would be happy to fight at 183 lbs

    * At the last StrikeForce event Nick Diaz attempted to assault Mayhem by throwing a water bottle at him back stage. He had bad aim. (there is video of this)

    * Mayhem wants to fight Nick Diaz

    * StrikeForce wants Mayhem to fight Nick Diaz

    * Nick Diaz has called Mayhem out for years

  7. Thanks other derek, pretty sure diaz has had just as many fights at 185 as mayhem has had at 170. Im just going off memory but i remember diaz fighting david loseua in the ufc, pretty sure that was a middleweight clash, but i guess im not man enough to jump a guy with a whole bunch of my friends like diaz. scary when your all alone, homie.

  8. P4P #1 Fan says:

So if they had the same number of of fights at 185 and the other at 170, and since one prefers 185 while the other prefers 170…why not meet in the middle? Miller has looked great at 185 but Diaz has also found a home at 170. Isn't the catch weight fair for both with both giving and taking a little?

Miller-it is called compromising= DO IT!

  9. Id say just make it an open weight fight, used to do it in pride all the time. who weigh what you wanna weigh ill weigh what i want to weigh, weight didnt matter when mayhem got jumped. people want to see the fight, we probably will, 5 years after these guys are out of their prime. MMA turns into boxing just a little more every day.

  10. Diaz needs to go up in weight. Look at Manny Pacquaio, he's fought AND WON in 7 or 8 different weight classes, each time moving UP in weight. Would Diaz drop down to 150 and fight? NO! So why should Mayhem?
