Following his dominating performance over the former welterweight King of Pancrase Katsuya Inoue, Nick Diaz will take on Hayato “Mach” Sakurai (30-7-2) for the DREAM welterweight belt at on July 21 at DREAM 5 in Osaka, Japan.

Legendary Japanese Mixed Martial Artist and former pro wrestler, Sakurai has defeated the likes of Mac Danzig, Jens Pulver, Frank Trigg, AokiShinya Aoki, Joachim Hansen and Caol Uno. Sakurai latest win came at DREAM 1 as he defeated Hidetaka Monma by TKO (Strikes) in the first round.

The winner of the fight will take home the first ever DREAM welterweight belt.

    after watching his last fight he deserves to fight for that belt. i’m glad elite gives him the opportunity to fight for another organization like this.

    D’ya reckon Dream & Elite EX are paying these guys in the lower weight classes better than the UFC???

    I think this could be the downfall of the UFC dominance - if all the other organisations allow their fighters to complete in any orgainisation…

    I’m not sure whether that would be so great for MMA - it could end up very fragmented…
