Nick Diaz: Dealing With Mental Issues, “Stuck In This Game” [UFC 137]

Fighters Only Magazine posted some revealing quotes from Nick Diaz, just prior to him missing the UFC 137 press conference and being dropped from his title fight.

“Anything is better than what I have been going through. Maybe it’d be better to be locked up in prison. I’ve been trapped in this prison, and after every fight there is another… See, you don’t understand. When you get outta jail, that’s what it is… If I fight the fight, I win. I get out, I get off a little while and then get locked back up…”

“I don’t look forward to anything like that. I look past that, like, ‘Holy s**t… if I win this s**t I’m f**king stuck in this game.”

Dana White quoted as saying “I Will Never Trust Nick Diaz Again”. Is missing a press conference for a fight that is over a month away really that bad? If a company fighter like Kenny Florian missed a press event, would Dana get all up at arms? Change the main event and condemn him.

  1. " If a company fighter like Kenny Florian missed a press event, would Dana get all up at arms? Change the main event and condemn him."

Don't get it twisted buddy, Nick Diaz is NOT a company fighter nor would he ever be considered as such.

But, to answer your question directly, a TRUE company fighter would NEVER intentionally do anything to harm the Zuffa/UFC brand.

  2. Brock missed a few things, but he let them know IN ADVANCE. It's the same thing as like not showing up for work when you're supposed to give a company briefing and not showing up or calling in sick…just AWOL.

You tell me if you didn't show up to work on a day where you're supposed to talk to the media about your company's product lauch…without calling in sick…if that would go over well? You better believe you wouldn't be getting another shot at doing that again. Especially if your reason for not showing up to work was "I have mental issues."

  3. If he chose to, Dana could have promoted it as Nick's being the bad guy who does't even show up. Dana's just a hot head egomaniac and Nick didn't play the game and Dana's angry and jumping up and down. Dans is simply a bully, that's all.

    • I agree that Dana pulled him from the fight a little early. But the more I think about it, what if he pulls a Karo Parisian and doesn’t show up for the fight because he can’t handle the pressure or whatever. Karo wasn’t a main eventer and he basically got booted.  But to lose your main event guy for one of the most anticipated fights of the year, damn that would have really sucked for the fans. All of us buying pay per views and not getting what we paid for.
